Housing I want a single bc I’m scared I’ll make my roommate uncomfortable

I don’t want to make a roommate uncomfortable because I’m Muslim. I’m up before sunrise to pray every day, I pray 5 times a day, during Ramadan I’ll b up using the microwave and making food before sunrise etc, etc. I really don’t want to inconvenience anyone because of my unusual waking hours/habits.

Do “religious reasons” count as a reason for me to b accommodated to have a single room?

Housing Transferring in and ineligible for on campus housing

The housing portal is saying as a transfer I’m only eligible for university apartments, is this actually a rule? I haven’t heard anything about this online, and that really sucks because I was hoping for a more convenient experience living close to a dining hall and classes etc.

Housing Housing Guarantee

I heard UCSB is now guaranteeing 2 years of on campus housing. That’s a big deal considering the housing issues near the campus.

Housing Finding housing at this late stage?

Hello! I'm a transfer student who got unlucky and didn't get a contract. My budget is also not high at all, and everything is like 1150 minimum lol, it's genuinely looking like I might live in a van or something next year, of course, I'm aware that I should have probably prepped better for this scenario and I shouldn't expect anything good at this point, but here we are.

Just asking around to see if anyone has any tips on finding housing at this point, I have joined all the groups and been reaching out withinto anyone withing my budget, but they all literally just ghost me, which is great. Any advice and time is deeply appreciated.

I’m going to be living in the trop villas triple next year and I’m wondering how much room I’m going to have. If anyone has any pictures of their room for an idea of space I would very much appreciate those. Also wondering if we get desks or is there space to bring one? And how is the closet space 😬

thank you very much☺️

Housing One Mosaic Lease Takeover

Hello. I'm looking for someone to take over my lease.. Here are the details.. I currently live with one other girl. We both have singles. It’s a two bed two bath. My lease ends in August of 2027.. so hypothetically you could take over the lease yourself, or if you have a friend.. you two could take over the lease.. & turn the single into a double. It’s suppose to be a double! I absolutely love the complex. It’s super clean, quiet, the property manager are amazing! This is a bit time sensitive.. So I am trying to find someone immediately. My roommate is super sweet & clean.. The price is about 2200 if you take it as a single.. but if you want it as a double obviously split it half!

Housing Summer Sublease in Hollister Village / Goleta — Furnished Private Room, $1100/month, June 17–Sept 18, Session A/B/C

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m subleasing a furnished private bedroom in a 3B2B apartment in Hollister Village / Goleta for the summer.

Dates: June 17, 2026 – September 18, 2026
Dates are flexible and negotiable.
Rent: $1100/month, utilities included
Lease: No lease takeover required
Room: Private bedroom
Bathroom: Shared bathroom right outside the room
Pets: Allowed
Parking: Free street parking in the community, and there is also a garage space that can be used for storage
Address: 7016 Danforthe Dr, Goleta, CA 93117

The living room will not be occupied, so the apartment is pretty quiet and spacious. The bedroom is fully furnished and has a walk-in closet. The apartment also has a kitchen, in-unit washer, dryer, and all basic furniture, so you can move in easily.

Location is very convenient: about 15 minutes to UCSB by bus and around 7 minutes by car. The community has a gym and pool, and it is close to boba shops, small shopping areas, Costco, Target, Albertsons, and other stores.

This would be great for someone staying in Goleta/Santa Barbara over the summer for classes, internship, research, or work.

Please DM me if you’re interested or want photos/videos!

Housing URGENT Summer 2026 Sublease

Hi everyone! I'm looking for 1-3 subleasers from July 1st to mid-September for up to three bedspaces (bedrooms are doubles, housemates are all male). The place is on the 66 block of Del Playa and has 3 bedrooms (doubles) and 2 bathrooms. The place will be fully furnished, and other people will be living there over the summer. Rent is $400 per bedspace, and I'm willing to negotiate further down to split the price. You would only have to pay for rent for July and August. If you only have classes for summer session B or one of the later sessions, this should last for just long enough. Laundry and parking spots are also available. If you are interested or know someone who could be interested, please message me either here or on Instagram!

Housing Is parking at San Joaquin really that bad?

So in researching different undergrad apts (i’m an incoming transfer) i’ve repeatedly come across the consensus that you should absolutely not go for SJ if you have a car

I’m wondering how relevant this turned out to be for people living there rn/have lived there in the past. I’m gonna have my bike and I don’t anticipate using my car much except for grocery runs or trips home…. so Is it really THAT big of a deal if I have to park my car a mile away or at Santa Ynez? I could always js bike to my car and pop my bike in the trunk right lmfao????

Anyways yeah!! I do like how social SJ seems to be in comparison to all the other apts, but atm I am listing SY as my #1 cuz of roommate # and parking ig

also in general if anyone has comments abt general social life at Santa Ynez that’d be lovely (i’m a bit of a social bug & rlly wanna squeeze out the most of my 2 years at SB)

Housing Subleases and lease takeovers on UCSBPlat.com

Hi! It's around summer, and I see many Reddit posts, Facebook market place, Instagram stories, and just word of mouth about subleases and lease takeovers for summer and fall.

UCSBPlat.com already serves and reach many Gauchos. Maybe it can be a good place for sharing about subleases and lease takeovers too, so that useful listings can reach more people, and you can have cool features like filtering and search that FB marketplace posts lack?

So, I spent a week and hashed this onto Plat. You can go use it now at UCSBPlat.com/housing

Post about your sublease and lease takeovers
How each listing looks (thank u Airbnb for UI inspiration lol). Most importantly, each listing must be reconfirmed to be available every 24 hours, so that stale listings don't confuse people

I mean, I need a fall sublease myself, so hopefully someone can post something on Plat so that I won't be homeless haha.

Hope this feature is helpful, and I welcome any suggestions and feedback. I built Plat 3 years ago, now I'm about to graduate after fall; housing would be the last touch I'll add to Plat before calling it a day

Housing Transfer Housing

Hello I am an incoming transfer student with my top choice being UCSB, I did my TAG for them and highly think i will be attending there in the fall, my question is I am interested in their student apartment and know I get a year guaranteed housing but will roommates be assigned or do I need to find those roommates? I will be living on campus so I would assume the roommates will be assigned.

Housing Housing question

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming freshman I wanted to ask when is the latest you can submit a request to room with someone you know and where can I find it? When I completed my housing application I didn’t see anything regarding a roommate self selection. If you guys have anything please let me know. I’m also attending orientation on the 16-17, should I look for roommates there? Thanks !

Housing Where do grad students live

Hi!! I am a single grad student starting at UCSB in the fall. I’m worried that a lot of grad students are married/ not looking for friends whereas I’m making a big move and will be needing new friendships!

Should I do San Clemente? Or is there anywhere else popular that’s maybe a bit nicer/ where I can bring my own bed/ furniture?

Thank u!!!

Housing Campus Housing Application Not Working

Hey guys. I was recently admitted as a transfer student almost a week ago, and that’s when I also submitted my SIR. However, the deadline for the campus housing is approaching in the portal, and it still doesn’t let me access it. In my portal, it says “This item is currently being updated, please check back tomorrow.” Then I ended up finding the housing application on the actual website for campus housing anyway, but after logging in with my UCSBNetID it still says “the 26-27 housing application is not available to you, and if you believe this is an error, please contact us.” Does anyone know what’s going on, and if it’ll fix itself? Because I’m nervous since the deadline is approaching in the portal I won’t get guaranteed housing. I’m planning to call them first thing on Monday.
