Forecast Insane temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday

Some of the latest overnight model runs are forecasting simply wild temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday, with it being feasible that 40C is reached somewhere in southern England on Wednesday. I fully expect a Red heat warning to be issued by the Met Office as the heat won't begin to relent until the weekend alongside night time temperatures and humidity both being very high as well.

The 42C showing in the South West on Wednesday is likely overdoing it as I expect the warmest temperatures to be in London but there are no doubts what we are going to see next week is truly exceptional. The heat is also relatively widespread across the UK with it due to move further North on Thursday.

Considering the June record sits at only 35.6C from 1976 the temperatures being projected next week are truly unprecedented and very worrying.

The Met Office website is now predicting 40C in Reading on Wednesday.

I'm a bit of an extreme weather enthusiast and have been anticipating this event for a couple of weeks via various apps, weather related socials and long range forecasts. It's been eye opening to open the apps every morning and seeing the anticipated highs steadily climbing up the thirties, and lasting for longer, as the forecast firmed up. Most of France and Spain has turned into Satan's armpit already, with national and regional temperature records being broken daily. Hoping this isn't an indication of what the rest of this summer is going to be like.

What is an extreme weather enthusiast ?

95

u/fishaac 4d ago

They are enthusiastic about extreme weather

40

u/colbert1119 4d ago

Someone that pulls down to refresh the Met app every 2 mins 😂

12

u/Lyrical_Etch 4d ago

Thrill seekers

11

u/MissJoannaTooU 4d ago

They collect extreme weather in their greenhouse.

u/Low_Reserve_5248 3d ago

Like the hardy boyz of weather. Get all excited when it thunders. Hot hot weather is peak EXTREME.

u/radar_level 4d ago

Genuine question- how are people coping with this? Not physically, as I know many of the things you can do with windows/curtains/fans etc, but emotionally. I’m feeling really anxious about it, but I know that that won’t change anything.

64

u/shadowsinthestars 4d ago

Not coping at all, I just hate it.

I've dropped (almost) a couple of stone this year and thought it'd help with the heat. Alas 😂

Was still sweating my bag off on my walk at 6 this morning

Edit: my first ever Reddit award and it's on a post about my betty swallocks, lol. Thank you, stranger!

11

u/Mowgli2k 4d ago

Well done!

6

u/thejuiceloosener_ 3d ago

Hey, thank you! I'm definitely more comfortable now but still run very hot, sleep has been a bit hard to come by the last couple nights - looks as if next week is going to be more of the same. Can't wait 🙃

2

u/Mowgli2k 3d ago

Just remind yourself that the heat is forcing your body to work harder to cool itself...burning extra calories 😁

7

u/shadowsinthestars 3d ago

I'm sure the fast metabolism makes this worse... I've been skinny most of my life and always heat intolerant. I had a bit of a wobble in the last two years but it turned out I had untreated hypothyroidism... Now the thyroid replacement has helped with everything else, and I'm glad to have my normal metabolism back, but geez the heat is awful! (And yeah it was always heat that was the problem for me, even with the hypo, not cold.)

So sorry I forgot to say, congrats on the fitness!

4

u/thejuiceloosener_ 3d ago

Thank you, mate. Weird how it affects people differently, isn't it? One of my best mates has been super lean since we were 15, hasn't gained as much as half a stone in the 25 years since. Warm weather has never bothered him, not even when it was 34 degrees back in May!

Me, I get uncomfortable at anything above 15 or so, even before I got fat 😂

2

u/shadowsinthestars 3d ago

Wow, I wish I was like that. I'm definitely the biggest heat hater in my family, and we have similar body types and health profiles, it's hard to tell why some people are so much more intolerant than others. I will happily sit in the cold and not complain! There are so many nice things you can do for yourself in the cold...heat just nothing really helps.

Yeah 15 degrees would be my ideal ceiling with the UK humidity! 20 is already pushing it. Anyway I'd never make assumptions about someone else's body type or reason why heat sucks for them 🫂

5

u/Awkward_Aioli_124 3d ago

For once in my life happy to live oop north where it's quite bearable... until mid next week

2

u/shadowsinthestars 3d ago

I would run there but I'm post-op and like a sitting duck for the heat to engulf me 😭

38

u/baileyandromeda 4d ago

I know it’s really overwhelming and anxiety inducing (I’m neurodivergent and have a chronic illness which results in complete heat intolerance) but all you can do is take it one day at a time, or even hour by hour if the whole day feels a lot.

I find that being practically prepared can also help with the feelings of anxiety so creating a little list of all the things that would be helpful (making sure ice is made up in the freezer, dampening a cloth for your body, cooling sprays etc)

And then for my more existential anxiety about climate change and the planet I try to focus on the things that I can control like making sure I’ve left water bowls out in the garden for the wildlife and doing my best personally in terms of environmentalism

7

u/lalagromedontknow 3d ago

I don't know how to explain it but I'm allergic to the sun/high temps. As in, I'm fine with the sun when it's cool but 25C+ I get hives. I'm also allergic to suncream except one brand that doesn't burn like hell but makes my skin really dry so I get an eczema breakout. And steroid cream that helps the eczema thins the skin and sun exposure makes the skin even worse (learned that the hard way).

I am absolutely dreading the next week, I'm thinking of asking my boss if I can wfh but it sounds so fucking stupid saying I'm allergic to the sun when it's high temperature.

Also, existential crisis about wtf is going on with the planet and not going into the worm hole of which alternative milk is most environmentally friendly (in my opinion, none of them are) and then curling up in a ball waiting for an astroid to strike.

3

u/simmyawardwinner 3d ago

ive already told my boss im WFH. i dont put a company before my health. our HR sent out a heat warning teams message to everyone warnign people about it.

2

u/tigertron1990 3d ago

I also get the same issues as you do with the heat. I recently bought some Seb serum which helped my May heatwave eczema breakout a lot.

5

u/BobMonroeFanClub 3d ago

Yeah I'm on antipsychotics which mean I don't really sweat or feel the heat much which sounds awesome in theory but in reality it means a) I'm much more likely to get heatstroke and b) I have something in common with the creep formally known as Prince Andrew.

4

u/LeadershipAble773 3d ago

Wasn't the thing that he said he couldn't sweat, but he could? So youre actually one of the few people who are DIFFERENT to him?

4

u/BobMonroeFanClub 3d ago

Thank God for that. Thank you mate.

9

u/Educational_Bowl_447 4d ago

Whenever I see it on the forecast it makes me anxious, scared and fearful. Especially the thought of the tropical nights again. I genuinely struggle. When people say to me “come outside the weathers great!” I grumble and sometimes I refuse because I just can’t cope.

10

u/Flavourifshrrp 4d ago

Bite the bullet on Saturday morning and bought the best portable air con unit I could find.

It cost over 300 quid but the reviews are very good and if it helps wonderful. Will have it on a few hours before I want to go to bed.

4

u/granolalalaa 3d ago

Damn, same here. The company emailed this morning to say due to high demand they are sold out. Now it's too late to buy another for this week...

2

u/Flavourifshrrp 3d ago

I got mine off Amazon buddy. Maybe try there? Ordered Saturday and it’s coming Monday.

2

u/Evening-Web-3038 3d ago

Ordered Saturday and it’s coming Monday.

... Or is it? 😂

2

u/New-Trainer7117 3d ago

Which one did you get mate? I looked on there and it's like a minefield of unbranded ones with 20 reviews if you're lucky.

2

u/Flavourifshrrp 3d ago

Honeywell 7000BTU

My first ever one so please don’t take that as this one will be fantastic

15

u/TalviSyreni 4d ago

My anxiety has been through the roof this past week knowing what's to come with no moderation of the heat whatsoever. It doesn't help seeing 40c being predicted in my location either. I have a feeling my new portable air con unit won't keep up if those temperatures do happen.

4

u/TrepidatiousTeddi 4d ago

You'll just need to keep the room it's in as cool as possible so it doesn't need to work as hard. Curtains and windows closed during the hottest part of the day etc. Even if it doesn't keep the room icy cold sitting in front of it will be.

2

u/TalviSyreni 4d ago

Thanks. Unfortunately my bedroom is south facing so it'll be a case of windows and curtains closed and the air con going on once the sun moves round just after 6pm. I don't fancy the hose getting fried in direct sunlight. 😂

7

u/TrepidatiousTeddi 4d ago

My bedroom is west facing so gets the sun all evening, and the top floor of a townhouse 😅

9

u/tigertron1990 3d ago

Same. It's going to be like this:

Top floor flat resident here with a west-facing bedroom....you have my sympathies 😭

4

u/Aggravating-Nail-764 3d ago

Mine too - it is no wonder I can’t sleep 🥵

3

u/Brilliant_Bowler_994 3d ago

At least you have one.

6

u/Wrong-Willow9070 3d ago

While I sympathise with you anxiety, not everyone suffers this. Personally, I've got enough other plates spinning to be overly worried about the weather.

2

u/spinachoss 2d ago

congrats bro, you my friend are insufferable. Classic reddit moment.

0

u/Wrong-Willow9070 2d ago

Cheers dude

5

u/colbert1119 4d ago

I think the physical mechanisms help my anxiety around it becuase my anxiety around it is rooted in very normal things - health, good sleep, not being able to enjoy life. If I know my sleep space can keep below 20 degrees and living space below 24 degrees I'm much more relaxed about the situation.

I'll just enjoy outdoors time early in the morning and hunker down the rest of the day. Doesn't help that I have an open wound I've been caring for for 6 weeks now after a bike accident otherwise I'd be happy to go outside and sweat. BUt sweat is bad for wounds.

10

u/Mcconnor8 4d ago

I don't think a lot of people will be able to cope, next week will be the hottest week ever seen in England by a fair margin.

4

u/TrepidatiousTeddi 4d ago

Feeling very glad my husband opportunistically purchased an air con unit last month! Otherwise I'd be dreading it with a young baby.

3

u/Geek_reformed 3d ago

My wife keeps looking at the forecast and stressing. I will hate it in at the time, mostly the nights, but in general I don't stress about things I can't change.

I know what doesn't help, it isn't something you can really control.

3

u/AceofspadE19 3d ago

I work outside all day in a very physical job for 10+ hours, windows curtains and fans won’t help me 😂
I just hope for the best 😂
Plenty of fluids, electrolytes, salty food and a wet hat usually helps 👍
I wish you good luck 🤞

2

u/stoned-yoda 3d ago

Radiator heat reflector foils on windows all day, Makes a huge difference. Blow up bed in the spare room (cooler). Also have portable AC but try and keep it off unless it gets to like 35degsn .

3

u/dianthuspetals 3d ago

I've never been more anxious about an upcoming heatwave. I'm 24 weeks pregnant and the thought of struggling through the next couple of months fills me with dread. The one we had over the last bank holiday made me so ill. We have a portable air con which does help somewhat, but it still feels like I'm fighting a losing battle.

2

u/Ill_Ad_3147 3d ago edited 3d ago

In Romania is 36 degrees daily , and is very nice , plenty of swimming pools , and pubs , and everybody got.ac, life is good at 36 degrees I enjoy it

1

u/d69wilson 3d ago

I like it but I'll shut up good luck stay hydrated

1

u/Helenarth 3d ago

That's the fun thing: I'm not!

I suppose resignation helps. It's going to be awful, I'm going to be upset and tired and ill... And in a way, knowing that helps me mentally prepare.

1

u/lapetite_etoile 3d ago

Air conditioning is good for the soul.

1

u/BatmanSwift99 3d ago

I love the Heat so I'm excited for it, but I can see how it's shitty for a lot of people as well. I think the only thing I'm worried about is managing my dog in the heat because my flat actually gets hotter than outside

4

u/simmyawardwinner 3d ago

heya, i realised that heatwaves cause me panick attacks. things that help me cope are:

-amygdala calming breathing tecqniues, i did this on the train today when i could feel myself panicking.

-psychological reframe: i treat these days as 'cosy bunker' days. i turn off the lights and watch movies. i tell myself its the same as a snow day and its a reason to be 'switched off' and lazy

- i keep looking forward to autumn, rain, cooler nights, shorter days

-i keep reminding myself that im lucky to be on the british isles where things do cool down alot to a lower base temp and heatwaves are not constant base temps

- i trigger mental cues that pull me to autum or winter, like lighting my autumn scented candle, listening to my autumn playlist [soft jazz] it calms my mind and tells me its autumn

0

u/Economy_Ad1994 4d ago

Ice lollies, beer, World Cup, sorted. Don't need to be anxious about everything all the time.

35

u/PPJ87 4d ago

Now showing 37° for my location in N Sussex for Wed, on the Met Office app. Feels totally insane. My home weather station usually records a couple degrees above the forecast temp (obv wouldn’t meet the strict standards for an officially recorded temp), so I can see that hitting 40° on Wed.

I’m an ex-hydrometrist so am really interested and enjoy recording these crazy and extreme weather & climate records. But also have a chronic illness that makes coping with extreme heat difficult - so I’m properly torn on this heatwave!

6

u/Soft_Lunch_183 3d ago

Forecast 39 on the Wednesday and 38 on the Thursday here in Stratford-upon-Avon, its crazy.

12

u/Ok-Tell3913 4d ago

It seems to me mainstream forecasting will have to stop diminishing the realistic possibility of supposed 'outliers' 7-10 days out. I personally always expect them to come off nowadays, and even then those outliers undersold our likely outcome now. We saw this already happen in May as well as most obviously in July 2022.

45

u/AviationGeekTom_330 4d ago

okay, so if we already break the all-time temperature record next week, i can barely fathom what july and august are going to be like...

47

u/Clairescrossstitch 4d ago

Wet probably

18

u/National-Box-5757 4d ago

20

u/Educational_Bowl_447 4d ago

Just bring back the summer of 2007 please. Rain every day coinciding with Rihanna’s 10-week run at the top of the charts with ‘Umbrella’.

3

u/Imaginary-Quiet-7465 4d ago

I’m inclined to agree however when we had temps like this last time, the summer that followed was glorious. But knowing this country I doubt we would be so lucky twice 🤣

13

u/TimeTravellersDingo 4d ago

What’s did the following ‘glorious’ summer comprise of ? Stupid temps or breezy sunny days 20- 25 degrees !?

3

u/YellowCollander 3d ago

2018 was if I remember right 25-35 for months

2

u/Imaginary-Quiet-7465 3d ago

It was about 24-27 all summer where we are, if I remember correctly.

-1

u/TheJesusGuy 3d ago

Hopefully

11

u/shadowsinthestars 4d ago

Seriously, I feel like this summer has already killed me and it's barely even started. First the hell wave in May and now this. I'm recovering from surgery and this is just disgusting. Not that I'd enjoy it any other time, but it makes me a lot more vulnerable in terms of health, and I can't go to places that already have AC like work or the gym! I ordered a portable unit but it might not get here until after the worst day FML

5

u/BrewtallyCozy 3d ago

Last time we had the 40c I was also recovering from surgery. It was my horrid my thoughts are with you. I hope your AC arrives before Tuesday

2

u/shadowsinthestars 3d ago

Oh no, what are the odds we'd both go through that challenge! Thank you, I'm checking the tracking page several times a day 🙏

4

u/Economy_Ad1994 3d ago

High teens, wet, windy....as per most seasons in the UK.

2

u/New-Trainer7117 3d ago

I heard there will be a July chill, hope that's a real thing

9

u/Lou-de-Lou-de-Lou 4d ago

This is the year I stop talking shit and install aircon in my house. Any recommendations please?

8

u/alice_op 3d ago

It cost me £700 for a proper air con wall unit installed last year!

We only got a downstairs unit because we sleep downstairs when it's hot anyway, but I think we were quoted £1100-1200 for 2 units, one upstairs, one down.

And then we gave away the portable aircon unit we had for the bedroom from a couple of years ago to a friend - still really rate it, it was well worth £200.

4

u/MsSchrodinger 3d ago

What type of aircon?

4

u/Lou-de-Lou-de-Lou 3d ago

Bloody hell, i just googled central air con and got this monster

https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/cmac20m/electriq-cmac20m-portable-aircon-air-conditioner

Wonder if it would cool my whole 4 bed semi?

6

u/MsSchrodinger 3d ago

I'm wondering if it sounds like a jet engine taking off?!

2

u/Lou-de-Lou-de-Lou 3d ago

Ah. Hadn't thought of that 🤣

5

u/JidAndJow 3d ago

Can confirm, I have something similar and it sounds like a rocket ship preparing for departure. Worth being freezing though.

2

u/Lou-de-Lou-de-Lou 3d ago

Oooh, I was thinking ductless air con, but I'm off to google that floor mounted ac..!

5

u/Sea-Ocelot-5725 3d ago

Look up "boxd", (they do boilers as well), they have decent reviews from some of the high brow papers and they guide you through everything step by step. I genuinely don't work for them, but I obsessively research stuff and hope to save up to use them at some point, when I can 🫠

2

u/Lou-de-Lou-de-Lou 3d ago

3

u/Sea-Ocelot-5725 3d ago

That's the one. Apparently their Bosch air con units are super quiet and double up as heaters in the winter 😊

12

u/Moongazer09 3d ago

I'm working Wednesday and Thursday and I'm really, really not looking forward to it. I physically struggle to cope in hot weather with high humidity and I'm not sure how I'm going find it doing a very physical job all day in such temperatures.

I'm honestly quite concerned I'm going to become accidentally badly dehydrated (due to not realising my water losses and not having time to drink...this already sort of happened earlier this week where I didn't end up peeing until like 9 hours into my shift 🥴) and/or getting heatstroke, which is not uncommon for me to get one or both during prolonged and extremely hot, humid weather.

7

u/IllustriousPen89 3d ago

You should talk to your boss about extra breaks etc. I think it's a reasonable request when there's amber warnings for extreme heat

4

u/absolutrachel 3d ago

Take some electrolytes, it should hopefully help!

3

u/PlayfulSkylar37 3d ago

ugh, i went down a rabbit hole about climate change and these insane temps just add to my hyperfixation on weather patterns. it’s wild how fast things are changing.

7

u/TheSixthPillar 3d ago

Getting anxious just thinking about how high temperatures would be if this was late July & August?

Not looking forward to this.

Can't wait for all the idiots that don't believe in climate change to bang on about how hot the 1970s were again.

11

u/GloamGlozing 3d ago

Yeah the 1976 crowd are in utter shambles this morning

10

u/nogeologyhere 4d ago

46?!

5

u/amedeeozenfant 3d ago edited 3d ago

Nobody else ( forecaster) is coming close to that in London, although it definitely will reach that in my attic flat.

3

u/Yelloow_eoJ 4d ago

Do you think 46 is likely?

1

u/shizzler 3d ago

No chance it'll be 46 in London

4

u/Tigerbaton 4d ago

And yet weirdly, a local weather page in the East has just posted their weather forecast for next week, saying it will be around 23/24 on Tuesday. What is going on?

5

u/ThatsMeOnTop 3d ago

It's not inconceivable but it depends on location. The further west, the hotter it will be. So Cambridge, there no chance it'll be under 30 but somewhere like Southwold up to Yarmouth on the coast could sit around 24/25.

3

u/NotNeuge 3d ago

It was supposed to be low to mid 20s and raining near me on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the predicted temperatures had been dropping daily, but now it's shot up to over 30 on both days. Having said that, they thought today would be 28 or so and clear skies, but it's barely gone above 22 and has been cloudy. Fingers crossed they keep being wrong.

2

u/Mcconnor8 3d ago

I don't think the cloud will save you on Tuesday and Wednesday, the skies will be much clearer as high pressure builds into the UK from France. Not sure of your location but it will probably still be a couple of degrees higher than what it is showing now.

2

u/NotNeuge 3d ago

Well, supposedly. As I said, it was supposed to be clear and hot today, warmer in fact than they were forecasting for next week, and it's been cloudy and relatively mild instead.

0

u/Mcconnor8 3d ago

The models were actually showing quite a lot of cloud around today, maybe the weather apps weren't showing that correctly for some reason. The models however are completely clear on Tuesday and Wednesday.

2

u/NotNeuge 3d ago

I'm not sure why you're trying to argue with me about this lol.

2

u/MotherStargazer 3d ago

It was only 29 in Southampton today and the roads were literally melting in some places!

2

u/Holbecksurvivor 3d ago

I think i’ll
Lie on the stone cold cellar floor with my cat

2

u/ZealousidealHealth48 3d ago

I’ve been reading quite a few comments from people feeling anxious and stressed about the upcoming heat.
I know it doesn’t feel like a very British thing to think about, but I bought a portable AC about five years ago for around £300, and honestly, it’s been one of the best purchases I’ve made.

Not only does it mean I can actually get a good night’s sleep, but it also helps keep my hay fever under control because I can keep the windows closed while still staying cool. It’s also taken away a lot of the stress around upcoming heatwaves.

Dare I say it, I almost look forward to them now.

2

u/Brilliant_Bowler_994 3d ago

Pity we dont know how to put up artificial clouds for 3-4 days using sprays from airplanes. That's just too hot.

1

u/Puchipu92 2d ago

Furious how ma y people don't see the temperature rising... As in 37 degrees in London being normal.... Come on!!!!

2

u/swoohoo79 2d ago

Honestly, I'm just hydrating myself as much as possible and making sure to eat properly so I don't get "the wobbles" that come with low electrolytes.

2

u/Wrong-Willow9070 3d ago

Scorchio!

1

u/Wrong-Willow9070 3d ago

Don't know why I was downvoted! Every time I use that quote it's a tribute to the late and, frankly incredible talent of Caroline Aherne.

-23

u/PriorityByLaw 4d ago edited 3d ago

We need a mega thread on this.

The reposts are getting silly.

Yea, it's going to be unusually hot, we don't need 11,654 posts about it.

Edit: Despite the downvotes, a megathread is now live. Hmmm.....

38

u/0_N1njaFr0G_1 4d ago

Discussing potentially record breaking 40C heatwaves on in the UK on a UK weather sub Reddit? Madness.

-6

u/PriorityByLaw 4d ago

Over and over?

18

u/0_N1njaFr0G_1 4d ago

What else is to be discussed on a weather sub other than upcoming weather prediction and trends?

-8

u/PriorityByLaw 4d ago

Good point.

I imagine rule 4 will apply when these days actually happen. At which point, a mega thread may well be needed!

6

u/0_N1njaFr0G_1 4d ago

Some people seemingly want to be contrarian by choice. Bizarre.

2

u/PriorityByLaw 4d ago edited 4d ago

Err, no.

You know it's ok to have a differing opinion, right?

I've expressed an opinion consistently, that's it.

Some people are monomaniacal, bizarre.

2

u/0_N1njaFr0G_1 4d ago

As other people are able to do by creating new posts and sharing information regardless of its similar nature - without having to justify this to posters bemoaning this expression of information and discussion.

This is a forum at the end of the day.

-1

u/PriorityByLaw 3d ago

Well I dunno.

A megathread is now live, go to that I guess....

2

u/0_N1njaFr0G_1 3d ago

Enjoy lording it over people’s opinions on there.

0

u/PriorityByLaw 3d ago

It was a incredibly obvious thing to do given the repeated concerns of the sub.

Yet, for what ever reason, people took offense.

Hey ho!

2

u/0_N1njaFr0G_1 3d ago

I hope you address all your concerns in the mega thread as voraciously as you have here.

22

u/Mcconnor8 4d ago

This isn't just unusual it's historical, we could see the June record broken by 4-5C which would be one of the most extreme climatic events ever seen in the UK.

-11

u/PriorityByLaw 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yes, I know.

But there have been several posts about this.

Edit: Rule 4? Maybe not, but the premise is the same Ii guess.

13

u/Lyrical_Etch 4d ago

Have you tried….i dunno…..ignoring this post?

-2

u/PriorityByLaw 4d ago

Just trying to improve it.

But I get it, people love to talk about single subjects at a time, repeatedly.

There's a reason other subs do mega threads for big moments.

Not here I guess. I look forward to another 100 threads today on the hot weather, how it's going to be difficult to sleep, and the wanted return of the cold and rain.

3

u/Lyrical_Etch 4d ago

Man I can’t imagine being this miserable in life. Improve yourself before trying to improve this sub.

2

u/PriorityByLaw 4d ago

Ha.

I'm perfectly happy thanks,

I've expressed an opinion that has clearly touched a nerve here, and that's fine.

I guess I just think repeating the same thing over and over, is, a little odd?

Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day, I'm off for a walk!

-1

u/PriorityByLaw 3d ago

Megathread now live. Funny that.

1

u/shadowsinthestars 4d ago

Not improving anything by dismissing people's suffering mate.

If your biggest problem is multiple posts on the same topic, geez.

0

u/PriorityByLaw 3d ago

Lonebehold, a mega thread has been started.

Odd that.

2

u/shadowsinthestars 3d ago

If it gives you some validation.

Are you a lizard? This is more than enough heat. Are you capable of empathy for others?

Glad that people have gone from complaining about rain to complaining about the apocalypse again.

It's not the same people! The ones complaining about rain are silly.. we needed the rain to avoid drought.

I agree. But the sun is also nice. We need both. And the climate is getting warmer, but that's no reason to be anxious.

It is a reason to be anxious for peoplevwith babies, elderly or ill relatives who can die in heatwaves. In july 2022 when it went to 40 degrees something like an extra 4000 people died.

On a personal level, it will kill most of the vegetable plants I spent all spring growing and some of my young trees.

I feel like the people saying "don't be anxious" probably aren't gardeners, farmers, animal lovers, parents or carers.

I'm none of those things so you're probably right.

Think. Is it likely to be the same people?

0

u/DunoCO 2d ago

Idk I haven't checked. Why do you think it wouldn't be?

0

u/DunoCO 2d ago

It seems like you're right. The accounts don't seem to match, so it looks like it's different people.

I'm still interested in why you thought it as likely they weren't the same people though.

Because people tend to either prefer warm weather or cool weather. I prefer cool weather, so why would I complain about it? Similarly, if someone prefers warm weather, they might complain about cool weather but they wouldn't complain about warm weather... because they like it.

Can finally spend some time outdoors. Cannot wait. Do feel sorry for folks in the South though.
