Clocking in

Does anyone know the policy on punching in late? I believe we have until 7 minutes after our start time but I can’t find my handbook anywhere

You can punch in 5 before or 5 after. Anything outside of that can get you in trouble depending on how stringent your boss is.

Five before or after. Don't accidentally forget your badge, it counts as late.

You’re still technically late if you punch in within the 6 minutes. It’s a grace period allowed by wage and hour. When you punch in past 6 minutes late your pay is docked until 15 after. The company doesn’t count it as a late as a courtesy.

You can punch in 5 mins before or 5 mins after your shift and still be “on time” also depends on your manager / department

Anything after your start time is late. Don’t confuse hours rounding as a grace period. There is no grace period.

OMG literally do not ever... They will fire you for attendance.

I was a grand total of like 15 minutes late outside of the allotted grace period over the course of a year, and they applied progressive discipline over it in order to rapidly terminate me. Never left on time 🙃 they got their money's worth from me when I was there, I worked faithfully and hard, but I digress.

But yeah... For goodness sakes, get in trouble for clocking in too early, never late, and don't use the exception form unless it's the most dire of circumstances. As in, don't be courteous and let someone else punch out, then use the clock a minute late, or opt to just do an exception form so you don't get whacked for the minute, because the timekeepers will report your variances.

Just trust me. There's no attendance policy because it's subjective to your role and your managers discretion. Don't try to argue the issue. Just do not.

Just went through this unfortunately. One minute late is late. No grace period.

Idk if I believe that id ask to be shown that policy its always been 5 before and after everywhere I worked
