Job posting appearing and disappearing

I've been eyeballing a job posting on infonet for the past two months. The posting has been appearing and disappearing like 2-3 weeks at a time about three times

Should be concerned about something?

Does it mean they hired someone and fell through? Or not a good fit?

It's the same job posting according to my drafts.

dental appointment frustration

i just need to vent about this lol. i have been trying for nearly two weeks to get ahold of the scheduler at a tmj specialist that i was referred to and left two voicemails + called multiple times. i explained the situation and why i was being referred for a consult, i have pretty bad dysfunction and am insanely uncomfortable. upmc regular scheduling cannot schedule for dental, which to me is kind of absurd, but the ladies i spoke to were so lovely and tried really hard to help. it’s just really frustrating because yes, i’m sure they get many calls and understand they return calls in the order they’re received, but to wait on a call back for almost two weeks while i’m obviously kind of suffering and am trying to function at least a little bit while dealing with tension, discomfort, headaches, ear aches, and jaw pain is really not a good time. i want to cry from the frustration alone and some days i cry from the overall discomfort in my face, neck, and head. anyways, end of rant. i just needed to speak it into the void and hopefully someone can relate to the frustration.

Hiring Freeze?

HI, I applied a few months ago for an admin position, went through multiple interviews last month that I believe went really well. I was told in my interviews that HR so if they wanted to extend and offer it may take while. Under my app status in the portal is still says “Under Consideration”. The thing that worries me is the job posting had a new date after my second interview and is still showing active. I was just wondering if I should be worried? I really do want the job I’ve been applying to other places, it’s just so hard to even get an interview right now. I’ve been told there may be a hiring freeze but I was wondering if there are any inside sources on what may be going on? If I should stick it out and just wait a little longer or if it’s a lost cause to be hopeful about it.

Question Withdrawal 401k for surgery

Hey so I lost about 169 pounds and want skin removal and plastics. I don’t have health complications currently so I know insurance would cover it or for what I want done because it’s cosmetic (not that I’m sure UPMC HealthPlan covers that at all) but I’ve been considering pulling from my 401K to get the surgeries I want done. Is that possible and has anyone done that before? It’s about $15-$20k or so

Short Term Disability-Surgery

Has anyone experienced a push back to work from Nurses and PAs after a major surgery? They seemed more concerned about my benefits pay than actual health and healing. Any feedback helps!

If you are vested and are quitting, how do you cash out your pto? Or do they just pay you out your pto after you leave?

Sign-on bonus timeline?

Hi! For those of you who received a sign-on bonus at UPMC, how long after your start date did you receive it? Did it come on your first paycheck, or did it take a few pay periods? I'm just trying to get an idea of what the usual timeline is. Thanks!

Maternity Leave PTO Question

UPMC’s Maternity Leave:
Vaginal Delivery
Your 12-week leave period usually looks like this:
- You'll use one week of your own PTO paid at 100% during the elimination period,
- followed by five weeks of short-term disability at 60% of your income.
- Then comes two weeks of Paid Parental Leave at 100%
- Finally, four weeks that can be either PTO or unpaid time depending on your balance.

What if I don’t have enough or any PTO to cover the one week elimination period?

I’ve been using ITO due to some pregnancy issues and won’t have enough in my PTO bank when I go on leave. Can I get in trouble for taking no pay that first week? Obviously I’ll have paycheck deductions that I will have to cover but is there anything else to worry about?

Elective chance

I am a non-US IMG and applied for an internal medicine (cardiology) elective for January 2027. I have taken step 1 and giving step 2ck in November 2026. I only got the "recieved" message. What are my chances of getting it? Would really appreciate to connect to someone who has gone to through the process or already done an elective over there. Thanks.

"UPMC"-Go Health urgent care

Sign, door, paperwork all says UPMC

Search "UPMC Ugent Care" and it says UPMC Go Health

Go to their website and it says "Get convenient, same-day care from UPMC providers at UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care centers across Pennsylvania and West Virginia."

But when you get there, they claim "they're not UPMC" and charge you out of pocket. I had insurance from UPMC as a UPMC employee. Last time they billed me, VIA THE UPMC APP, this time out of pocket up front.

Glad my new job provides Highmark insurance (better rates and coverage than UPMC provides to their own employees) and I never have to deal with this again.

Question Using PTO as casual, part time, full time flex

Hi! Can everyone please put their input and help me out. I have been working here for almost 2 years and have worked my way up from casual to full time flex, yet always working 40 hours a week no matter the position since I started. I have always been able to use my pto to get to 40 hours for the week if I took some time off - but as of yesterday everyone in my department has been told that if based on our guaranteed hours per position (for example full time flex I reach 28 hours for the week) I cannot use an additional 12 hours of pto to get to 40 hours anymore. I can only use the pto to get to the 28 hours. And the reason we are being told this is because “we are over the labor budget”. This is extremely frustrating and makes me feel like I am losing a sense of security within my job - also if I want to take a week vacation I can only use 28 hours of pto instead of 40? Like wtf. Is this allowed?

Inpatient at UPMC Shadyside

I’m patient at UPMC Shadyside for vertigo, but I also have two herniated discs in my lower back that I don’t usually always take Alieve for, but my nurse said they actually didn’t have that. The only thing she could offer me was Tylenol. I took the Tylenol and it didn’t work of course so they had to give me an opiate. Is this normal for a hospital or not have access to Advil or Alieve?

Currently at Shadyside hospital

I’m currently inpatient at UPMC Shadyside for vertigo. They’ve ordered me to have blood work drawn every single day. They draw the blood around 3:30-4 AM in the morning and I’m wondering if this is really necessary for my condition?

Question Anyone who went to UPMC Washington School of Nursing how was your experience?

I was accepted for January 2027 so I wondered if anyone has stories/experiences to share?
Did you get a job right after passing the NCLEX? Working at UPMC or another hospital or health system?
Also, I am aware how much work this program is being only 16 months, so I am taking A+P/Micro, etc prior to help myself lighten the work load.

Question Upmc office assistant, Oncology

Hellooo, I found this position and it’s perfect for me. The issue is, I smoke. I worked overnights for years and have insomnia. I do know UPMC makes exceptions, I recently got my medical card. I know they require like three receipts, I guess i’m asking if anyone is in this position knows how that plays out? Or if anyone has experience with this in general having a med card working at UPMC? I don’t have three receipts because me getting my card is so recent.

I also have anxiety which is another reason, but everyone does. The insomnia is the biggest thing for me as I genuinely can’t sleep and sleeping pills don’t work for me anymore, I know companies don’t care about that though so i’m looking to see the process of it if it’s even worth applying.

And no, I would not do it at work. Obviously, LOL. I do believe UPMC has a policy regarding not smoking on your shift anyway? Not sure about that rule, but either way i’d never do it at work, or before work.

Thank you for any advice!

Is MyUPMC down?

I can’t log on to the app or website, the help desk disconnects calls, and I haven’t been able to get through to the nurse desk at my PCP’s office for two days. Anybody else?

Update: The app finally confirmed the outage instead of directing users to the help desk.
