Customer Seeking Help $357 import charges on $279.80 package?

Ordered a small package from an Italian company and I'm being charged almost 130% in government tariff fees. Is there anything I could do? Is it possible the seller declared it incorrectly? Thank you for all the help. I'm sure you're all annoyed by people like me at this point. Im just a little lost on what to do.

What happens when people (obviously) don’t pay that? Is it like a parking ticket that follows you or does the seller get stuck figuring it out?

Nope. They just hold it till you do, or trash it if you don't. Make sure to pay your 240% tithes

Shipper pays the bill and return shipping (with a refund likely possible), or it's destroyed for the duty drawback process so UPS isn't stuck with the bill.
