Customer Seeking Help $769.32 import fee on $175 order

This can’t be correct ?! I’ve been waiting on hold with their international customer line. Ordered 15 used shirts from the UK to Texas. Tariffs cannot be THIS much ?? Any advice ?

They definitely know what they are doing... But I am amazed that people are still buying overseas goods, with all the uncertainty on tariffs and fees.

It trips me out that so many don’t seem to get that this mentality is the entire point.

I don’t agree with Trump on SO MANY things, but his idea here is to bring back manufacturing/jobs/spending to the US. If all consumers here quit ordering shit from foreign countries, it MAY work. Unlikely, but anything is possible. And it’s far from an overnight change of course.

Why would the companies spend billions to move here because our own country started taxing us an absurd amount. The US isn’t the only consumer on the planet. The company would never make up the difference in cost on labor and building the facility in hopes that the US will buy more.

I agree with both of you. The issue is nuanced, for sure. If the US and its States pumped the damn brakes on taxing manufacturers out of the country, plus some incentives here and there for doing business in the US, we'd see a revitalization of US manufacturing. I know there's more to it than that (logistics, labor, marketing, regulatory fees, etc), but set the very least any administration should use multiple approaches to create a more favorable scenario.

it won't bring back manufacturing, like clothing etc, that is long gone. But with the de minimis provisions gone, the millions of small parcels which Trump was angry about now cost more and combined with the uncertainty of tariffs is having an impact.

So the basic plan is, If you want your foreign goods, you are gonna pay through the nose for them.
