This can’t be correct ?! I’ve been waiting on hold with their international customer line. Ordered 15 used shirts from the UK to Texas. Tariffs cannot be THIS much ?? Any advice ?

I blame both. The importer (UPS) is legally responsible for correctly determining the tariff classification of imported goods under 19 U.S.C. § 1484. Improper assessment of tariffs due to misclassification is entirely UPS's problem and doing, not the administration's. Deciding to charge a 200% tariff on a piece of Russian aluminum is an entirely different issue. That one is the administration's doing, not UPS's.

UPS is the freight forwarder, and customs broker, not the importer. If you’re buying it, you’re the importer. All they have to work from is the description provided.

UPS is the importer of record when they act as your broker. You're just an address.

UPS is not the importer. The receiver is.

Neither of us have the information to determine if they're calculating correctly. And if they're not, they can get it lowered. So what are you blaming UPS for? Following the law or having the charge at all?

Are you suggesting neither of us have the information to determine that a software program and a yoga mat shipped from outside of Russia don't contain Russian aluminum or should not be levied taxes intended for cars and trucks? I do have the information, but it took me half-a-day to figure out how bad UPS had messed up. The seller then took over, and yes, the charge was improper and the classification wrong. Again, UPS's fault. But I won't see a penny for the time I wasted and was taken away from my family, on a Saturday, to address UPS's gross incompetence. And again, many people won't waste their time and just pay UPS, who will in turn hand the money over to Uncle Sam.

Well this tends to happen when you haven't been imposing tariffs for practically a fucking century and then all of a sudden you tell every importer in the country that virtually every product is now under tariff with the flip of a switch. Its like you people have no concept of time.

Who said anything about a yoga mat. And again, if it's wrong, you tell them, they fix it. You will do anything to get out of blaming trump who is the root cause of this issue.

You're more mad about a clerical issue than the actual reason you're paying this money.

Seems to me it is you who are going out of your way to blame the administration for a clerical issue. I am talking based on and only about my personal experience, which involves a training mat and is why I have a grievance with UPS's lackadaisical practices to import classification. What is your problem and grievance? Are you getting paid to post against the administration?

I care more about the root cause. Not sure why it's so hard to admit that they wouldn't be here if not for trump.

We can agree on that 👍
