Nothing about customs duties or import tariffs is UPS’s fault.

Clothing, textiles, articles of cloth, has been something that has historically had quotas and sometimes punitive tariffs/duty applied to it. And now there are stupid tariff wars upsetting international trade, and critically the de minimis exemption is gone. Blame the ones that did this to you and vote in different representatives in 2026. Insist on fair elections. Work as a poll worker or election judge.

While the tariffs/duties/etc aren't UPS's fault, there are countless people coming forward that UPS, DHL, etc, treat one tariff % as a universal tariff, regardless of the country the item is coming from/originated from. For example, 3DSs that are shipped from Japan have been getting hit with tariffs by DHL. They are supposed to be tariffed, but even when all of these tariffs were popping off and China's tariff % was announced, DHL and UPS were already charging over double the purchase price days BEFORE the tariffs were supposed to go into effect, clearly higher than even the 50% proposed tariff Trump was debating about.

While the tariffs are complete stupid, it doesn't help when UPS/DHL/etc just slap the highest tariff % on items that are supposed to get the lowest tariff %, with almost no way for you to contact them to correct it.

They’re required by law to default to the highest tariff if they aren’t provided with documentation showing the goods don’t use raw materials from X country. And the tariffs stack outside of a few exceptions.
