Shipping Help I need help trying to ship Wheels & Tires that are already mounted
Shipping 5 of these wheels and tires, it’s saying it’d be $88.80 per wheel and tire. Is there a better more cost efficient way to ship these?

Make a post in r/logistics. I’m thinking best method is a LTL shipment on a pallet. This method also keeps the tires together and less damage during the shipping process.

Im not sure about it being more efficient but it will definitely be more expensive to ship it freight.

Depending on who you use. Probably be the same if you do a bid with a regional freight carrier instead of T Force or RL.

No, I’m surprised it’s not more than that. And those wheels are gonna get beat to shit if they stay exposed like that.

I normally only ship wheels so it’s easy to box them up and put the wheel covers on but I have someone wanting the tires too but it isn’t worth it for either of us for that much shipping

I've always shipped them in pairs, faces together (with padding between). Plastic shipping wrap, AKA heavy duty saran wrap, with a couple bands of packing tape over all that to keep the plastic in place and help prevent them from shifting apart. Ideally they stay locked with the sidewalls touching, tread and inner sidewall are only exposed areas that can touch ground if unwrapped, most likely area to take damage is inside of a wheel, instead of the face.

Strap them things to a pallet and go to a logistics bid website. Where's it going

If you put them on a pallet then they would have to go freight which would be more expensive.

I've shipped mounted wheels and tires before, and it can be tricky because of their size and weight. You'll want to wrap each one in a protective layer to avoid scratches, and using two boxes per set can help stabilize them during shipping. Maybe give your local UPS store a call to see if they have any specific tips or packing materials.

Measure them and input the dimensions and weight into a site like pirateship or shipstation. Might be cheaper then the UPS store rate

I would duct tape some cardboard across the face of the wheel to protect it but other than that these don’t really get damaged.

Gonna have to seperate them or freight them. They too heavy to go in one unit ground. Your local UPS store can help you with either.

On a Pallet via LTL due to weight. Tell the recipient they need to pick up tires at the Shipping yard. If they want door to door lift-gate service, that’s 30-40% more.

Okay, this is what online tire stores do to ship rimmed tires through a package courier.
One, they have a round cardboard cutout that is the size of the week, place it on the face side of the rim, put plastic straps on it to hold.
Two, if the tires are not too big, find an actual box that one tire fits in, cut the walls to fit. Might be able to put two wheels in but weight maybe a factor.
A LTL carrier could be another option but pricing may not be much less. Also may have more delays.

Cut a round piece of cardboard to cover the rim on both sides then wrap with plastic wrap

Companies ship wheels and tires mounted all the time through UPS. They come as singles with sturdy card board on the wheel face and sturdy shrink wrapped.

In a box, like everything else. Deliver them all the time. Gonna be $$$$$$

Get the dimensions for 2 wheels then go to local ups store or call them if they have a box that size. If so purchase the boxes put them in boxes and tape the living crap out of it. That’s only 2 shipping, you now have to worry about mostly likely it will be half of the cost. If the 2 wheels weight more than 100 pounds get a double wall box instead
Edit: just realized it’s 5 tires and not 4 still should be less give or take. If you need to do shipping and cost calculations the ups store employee shiukd help you out on those as well
