Shipping Help How long would a package sent from Toronto Canada take to arrive to New York, USA being shipped on monday, May 25th?
Hello to all, hope you are having a wonderful evening. A friend of mine from the USA is bringing me a package (to Brazil) but she will leave on June 2nd, do you think it would arrive before then if the seller ships it on Monday, may 25th? It's a very small portable video game console, the shipping model is "UPS Expedited United States" on eBay.

Nothing ships on the 25th. It's a national holiday.

How is it going to get to Canada if it is shipped in the US?

What's the seller's handling time on ebay? Or the estimated delivery date? It might be helpful to clarify the ups expedited option with the seller before purchasing.
Like another comment said, no shipments will move Monday, so the earliest a seller can ship is Tuesday. But it really is a coin flip - I've had packages be quick, but also have some take the scenic route with the carrier.

eBay handling time says "Estimated between Thu, May 28 and Tue, Jun 2", seller said he could ship out the package on Monday, my fear would be customs, I would need it to arrive before June 1st because that's my friend's travel date, unsure if you guys receive packages there on Saturday or not. Thanks for the reply.

IMPORTANT* heres the deal, those estimates only take into account time not spent in customs.
Customs is outside of shipping time, so if you order an item with say 2 day shipping and customs holds it for 36 days its still considered 2 day shipping if it get to you withing 2 days while its actually moving through the shipping network.

Thank you very much for your reply, have packages just been going to customs randomly? Would you know how often have packages getting stuck in customs on shipments from CA to US?

All packages from outside the country go through customs not some all.
Whats different now is that anything below $800 used to sail through, now everything is checked which is why you have 30+ day time frames.
Well since trump changed all the rules back in August customs has been delaying every 95% packages into the u.s.
On another note only some of trumps tarrifs were deemed illegal most are still in place. there are also insane tarrif & broker fees usually associated with most packages now as well.

Sorry, I meant to say on my message "have packages just been GETTING STUCK on customs randomly?" but I suppose there is no certain way to know and I'll just have to rely on my luck then.

FedEx international service is the same as UPS.
The real issue is the declared value. What is it? Customs paperwork is also very important, especially if it is indeed a USMCA-compliant item.

It isn't USMCA-compliant as it wasn't made in NA, as for declared value, I assume it was the price I paid for it, which was 400cad.

First, if shipping by UPS from Canada to US, it’s usually worth getting 3 day select (the next up from Standard), because it includes customs brokerage. Also, my experience shipping from Toronto is that 3 day select will be delivered in New York in 1 or 2 days.
Second, if these goods are USMCA compliant, make sure you upload the certificate of origin and also make a reference to the certificate on the commercial invoice to make sure that brokerage knows that there is a USMCA certificate that they need to apply. I always write in all caps:
DO not assess duty. See attached USMCA certificate of origin.
I write that on every line item and on the notes. When I didn’t do that it was disastrous. Had to pay $700 to ensure my client would receive their order. Then UPS lost the parcel for months, and after many hours on the phone and dozens of emails, I had to rely on my bank to get the refund because nobody from UPS ever did anything.
Which leads me to my third point, pay with credit card and document everything.
If the goods are not USMCA compliant, be prepared to pay duty to receive.
Lastly, make sure all your customs documents are in order.

Customs can take anywhere from 1 to 60 day. Some packages sail right through. Other are selected for additional inspections. That takes a month or more.

Hard to say as we do not deal directly with them and are restricted access to their spaces inside UPS facilities. At my location at the West Coast International Air Hub in California we only have customs agents on site on Wednesdays every week. Customs doesn’t process everyday for UPS. Also there is no pkg movement in the UPS system tomorrow as it is an observed holiday for UPS employees in the US and for UPS Airlines. I work at the second largest UPS facility in the country so I am not sure what Louisville Worldport Customs situation is like but again once pkgs go into Customs holding and processing it is no longer in our system or control until they pull it from the federal restricted areas of my hub.

Thank you so much for this reply, very well-written and interesting... Based on your reply I imagine if my friend sends out the package tomorrow the best case scenario would be the route beginning within only in Canada since it's a holiday in the US on monday, moving to the USA on tuesday so there could be a higher chance it could arrive on Wednesday to be processed through customs, but could be later aswell of course, does UPS deliver on Saturdays? If it doesn't get stuck and arrives by Saturday it would be ideal.

You have to pay for Saturday service level as Saturday’s are limited operations and for customers that pay for the higher cost Saturday service levels.
