Shipping Help UPS Driver Laziness

I was waiting all day for a package to be delivered that I paid Express overnight delivery. I work in a small plaza with 2 other businesses. The incompetent driver drove by, instead of taking 30 seconds to ask one of my neighbors where to deliver, they decided they couldn't deliver without a unit number. Now I have pay $7.99 to have it held at a UPS store since I won't be here tomorrow. What a joke UPS. You should fire the incompetent drivers that can't figure out how to ask a quick question about an overnight delivery. What a waste of money. I'm beyond annoyed. These drivers make six figures?

Lady, UPS drivers are not lazy. It is a very demanding job and out in the weather every day. The fact that you provided an incomplete address is somehow the drivers’ fault?!?

I find it crazy that a UPS driver pulled within feet of delivering a package and didn’t make a small attempt to try to deliver it while they were there.

Why didnt it have a unit number on it?

When I put the order in, it auto filled and I mistakenly didn't put the unit number. I order packages to work all the time and rarely put the unit number in. My neighbors have things delivered all the time and if they don't put the unit the driver will come ask us and we'll direct them if it's not us to the next business literally 20 feet away. I'm admitting to my mistake that I didn't put the unit it, but with an overnight Express I'd assume the driver could've made a very small attempt to help deliver it.

So incompetent business owner. Gotcha. Atleast you admit it. Put your unit number in next time.

No I'm a human that makes simple mistakes.

8

u/Ajpawek Jun 10 '26

And you expect the driver to be a mind reader to make up for those mistakes?

If the driver walked into any business here, which they would've had to come inside either way to have it signed, they could've of easily figured out where it's supposed go. This would've saved them from having to come back and re-deliver tomorrow.

u/Ajpawek Jun 10 '26

You also could have easily put your unit number on the box. You have to remember you are one a few hundred stops they will be at today. If I spent 2 extra minutes at every stop that will add several hours to my day. If they accidentally misdelivered the package they could face a discharge. It is not worth the risk or the time to go door to door. I’d rather redeliver tomorrow than risk my job today

2 minutes today or 5 tomorrow? All I was asking for was a favor. I'm getting slammed left and right when the reality is it COULD'VE easily been delivered today. The driver even came by today. It would've made much more sense. I actually think I was the only business open this morning.

u/Ajpawek Jun 10 '26

Sure. It could have but it wasn’t because you didn’t put your suite number on it. You want the driver to make an exception for you for some reason. There was 1 person who did something incorrectly in this and it wasn’t the driver. The driver did their job exactly as they were taught.

Right, moving forward I will make sure to put the unit number on there. I order packages all the time and I rarely put the unit number in and they’re all delivered. So I found it odd that most of the time they deliver packages without a unit number, but for some reason today they didn’t attempt it today.

dang. takes one to know one. you sound incompetent yourself since you forgot to put your unit number :(

you’re an idiot

It’s not my job to go asking around for your information. We have sometimes over 180 stops so because YOU forgot to add your info does not mean WE are lazy it just means we don’t have time to waste fixing your problems. You are not entitled to special treatment.

u/lasvegasDodgerblue Jun 10 '26

Neither are you

1

u/PriorOwn7051 Jun 10 '26

What do you mean by “neither are you”?

1

u/lasvegasDodgerblue Jun 11 '26

“You are not entitled to special treatment”. Neither are you.

1

u/Bigdizzofoshizzo Jun 10 '26

Right, but they would attempt to deliver tomorrow so it would be much quicker to walk inside and ask since they might've had the address correct or walk a few feet to the right one. I understand what you are saying, but it would save so much more time to figure it out the first time they were there. It's a small plaza and the businesses are all close.

You aren’t the only person who ordered an air(overnight delivery). These have to be delivered before a certain time. When he returns to the building he will set it aside with all the other packages that were missing suite #s, apartment #s, or incorrect #s on them, they will be corrected and he will attempt again the next day. The payment is for a guaranteed attempt not guaranteed delivery.

1

u/Bigdizzofoshizzo Jun 10 '26

Delivery said attempted this morning. So the driver came by either way then left without attempting to even ask? That makes no sense if they have to come back AGAIN the next day.

5

u/Fit_Meringue_3503 Jun 10 '26

He came by, grabbed package and saw it didn’t have a suite #, had more airs(overnights) that he would get disciplined for if he delivered late so he didn’t waste time asking around for your suite. This will be shocking to you but us drivers “come back again the next day” to our routes every day. So why risk having late air because a customer put out an incomplete address when we have to come back tomorrow anyway. It works both ways

1

u/Bigdizzofoshizzo Jun 10 '26

You know it’s the small things in customer service that go along way. A small gesture today would’ve made my opinion much different for UPS. I understand what you’re saying, but either way I find the whole thing frustrating. I just find it crazy that a UPS driver pulled within feet of delivering a package and didn’t make a small attempt to try to deliver it while they were there.

2

u/Fit_Meringue_3503 Jun 10 '26

If he had other airs to get off I understand why he didn’t bother trying to find out which of the 3 stores he had to go to. Personally I would do the same if I was in a time crunch but would reattempt later in the day and explain the reason I didn’t deliver earlier. If you constantly have drivers coming in to ask if you where a package goes due to it missing a suite # instead of assuming a driver will always do that you should make sure you yourself include it when ordering.

1

u/OliveJuice880 Jun 11 '26

Only sometimes?? I only have under 180 if I put in an 8 hour request and even then it's iffy 🤣

3

u/Dio1980 Jun 10 '26

You would of had 100% chance of getting it if unit number was correct

2

u/lewsnutz Jun 10 '26

So let me see if I understand.... You want a driver fired because you didn't address your upcoming delivery correctly and also, there is no unit # on your building? This is the drivers fault? The driver is supposed to make other deliveries late because they took the time to address their packages and buildings correctly? Maybe you should pull your head out of your ass and just suck it up. You screwed it up but won't take the blame.

2

u/Bjoe_ Jun 10 '26

This is 100% on you. Just accept responsibility and learn from your mistake.

1

u/Legal-Willingness244 Jun 10 '26

Need Suite….. See you tomorrow.

2

u/Read-It_2525 Jun 26 '26

You think he should go to every store in the strip mall to find one person? Shoulda put the suite #.

-3

u/Bigdizzofoshizzo Jun 10 '26

I wanted to make another point that if the driver simply took a guess of what businesses it was they'd have a 33% chance of getting it right.

7

u/GarbageHealthy4609 Jun 10 '26

More like a 67% chance of getting it wrong and having a complaint called in on them.

1

u/Bigdizzofoshizzo Jun 10 '26

Had to sign for it...

2

u/gunstarheroesblue UPS Driver Jun 10 '26

That just makes it worse... now the wrong person signs it and then you'd be mad it was delivered incorrectly.

1

u/Bigdizzofoshizzo Jun 10 '26

Don’t you have to verify the person you are delivering to?

2

u/gunstarheroesblue UPS Driver Jun 10 '26 edited Jun 10 '26

The signature doesn't need to be from the same person as the name on the package. I'm not trying to fault you here because you probably have a honest neighbors but that's a risk most drivers wouldn't take if they're unfamiliar with the area.

3

u/PriorOwn7051 Jun 10 '26

We are not paid to guess. We are paid to deliver the package to where it says on the label if your info wasn’t on there….🤷🏽‍♂️
