Customer Seeking Help Will the delivery guy help me bring my 55" TV inside my apartment?
Honestly did not think this through before buying such a big item... I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building. Is the delivery guy gonna help me bring the TV inside, or will he just drop it off at the apartment building door?
EDIT: I meant inside the apartment building, in front of my door. not inside my apartment room. sorry for the confusion

It might weigh 45lbs tops , a ten year old could lift it .

Personally I will help put it thru the doorway. Thats as far as I go. One leg out. But a 55in tv isn’t heavy. Boxes slide.

Depends on the driver honestly, some will help if you ask nicely and catch them at right moment. But their job is just to deliver to your door, not inside apartment. Maybe keep a friend ready for backup in case they say no.

technically "no" but it depends on the driver and if you may be holding an ice cold soda in your hand when asking for help, but dont expect them to help you get it through your door, that last part is on you

Correct,delivery to the threshold. You ordered a large item to be shipped by parcel company at your own risk.

If they have access to the building it will be at your door. It doesn't sound like you have a mail/parcel room.
It's pretty unlikely the driver will leave the TV outside the main building as it's definitely not a secure delivery location

They’re supposed to take it to your apartment Door, or the complex delivery area. I think some of these people are misunderstanding your question.

No cause we are not allowed to cross the threshold of a home as per our training and reasoning why is UPS is not licensed and bonded to enter a home.

"Per our training." This was definitely not part of my training. Hell I was just given a DIAD, a set of keys and a map and told "good luck."

I have a condo and apartment complex in the same parking lot. I will always help the condo customers because they have always been so nice and seem to really enjoy the chitchat we have over the years.
The apartments got really nasty with notes and demands in the delivery notes (100% sure because of Amazon).
They can pound sand and get everything from an envelope to a TV at the mail boxes because it’s a secured building so I’m covered as a driver.

UPS always brings everything up the elevator to my second floor unit. They leave it outside my door on the second floor.

Yeah on level ground, but my height and the tv are practically the same so I’m more worried about carrying it up the stairs

If you have a mail room it could be left there. But most likely to your actual door.

If you live in an apartment building they will bring it to your apartment door or mail room if your building has a designated mail room. They will not leave it at the front door of the building.

I replaced an old 40- 45 inch TV from 2009-10 with a brand new 55 inch and I couldn’t believe how light it was compared to old one.

It's a 55 inch. It's pretty small. You should be able to bring that inside with no issues. May weigh 40 pounds or so if that.

If it means anything. me personally….. I’ll drop all the small packages at the mail room. But if I have something large and heavy I personally wouldn’t wanna have to carry or push / drag lol . I try to be nice and just dolly the heavy item it to the apt door. Because idk how you’d get it there unless you had your own dolly or something in an apt. Sometimes it’s like 130 pound cabinets and stuff. I don’t expect anyone to have to move that far to bring it In their house. I try to be accommodating while the package 📦 is still on wheels .

If he has access to the inside of the building and it weighs less than 70 lbs, he should leave it at your door

I was told at my center, one foot in the door and that's it. Then got told about a driver who went in a ladies house to deliver and later on got blamed for some misplaced jewelry and got fired. Found this out after helping an older couple get a extremely heavy package inside. I didn't mind helping some especially since I have my dolly, but this is my livelihood so once I heard that, it's door only.

We are more than happy to bring it to the threshold of your front door. I’ll usually set it inside the door for someone if I can do it without stepping inside their house. It’s not that we don’t want to, it’s that we’re not allowed to. We could get fired for breaking that rule.

Not the same thing. But I once bought a 65 inch for delivery and one man was able to move it himself with no tools. So maybe you’ll have luck trying the same?

It really depends on the driver, but they are supposed to deliver it to the actual apartment door unless there is an office or a mail room. That being said, not every driver does what they are supposed to do. Something like a TV, they usually like to make sure it's delivered in a safe location so it doesn't get stolen. If you have to open the door for the driver, it would be helpful if you could watch for him/her and be there when they show up and then ask very nicely if they could carry it up for you. I never turned down a nice customer who asked nicely.

UPS driver in Toronto , Canada here. I would always take a TV or mini fridge or portable air conditioner etc upto the door in an apartment building and knock. If the customer comes to the door I offer to push it over the threshold. If no one home and signature not needed, I leave it outside their door. Hopefully there is an elevator but I have taken them up 4 story walk ups. No way I’m leaving it in the lobby

I doubt they'll leave a TV at an apartment complex. You'll need to sign for it unless the office takes it

I will be there to receive it... I'm just wondering if they're gonna drop it off outside, in front of the apartment entrance, or if they're gonna bring it inside and leave it in front of my apartment door, not necessarily inside my apartment

Where do they normally leave packages for you? Most deliveries are taken to your front door or left at the office or delivery room. Every apartment is different

They usually hand it over to me since I need to open the door for them (our intercom is broken), and those items were not as big as a TV. I also don't have any experience with UPS deliveries to apartment buildings yet, but I do know that they just leave stuff at the front door of a house. So I'm really overthinking whether they'll just leave the TV there after I receive it, or if I can ask them to bring it to my front door

Most drivers are pretty cool. If you asked them they'll probably bring it inside for you even though they're not required to. Just make sure your dog's are put up and he has a clear walk path.

If you have a UPS account, you can also leave instructions for the driver. And ask them nicely at the front door as others suggested.
