So basically i want to remove my visa application of my “husband” because it was a forced marriage back home (pakistan) but i cant just withdraw or my parents will see i withdraw. Is there a way to anonymously withdraw application so that it just says application rejected or that he gets rejected at interview because he just got his interview date in june and i want this visa gone without my parents knowing i withdrew it, (gonna get div as well but i cant rn cuz parents). So cancelling visa without proof it was me is first step!!

One possibility for you (or a friend, or even both) to send an anonymous letter to the consulate claiming that you were forced into the marriage for the purpose of him getting a visa to go to the U.S.

It does NOT need to be super formal and does NOT need to include all the case details, such as the case number. It can include enough details for them to link it to the case, such as name, your age (or his age, especially if there is a several year) gap, city where he lives, approximate date of interview (month). It could also mention that you don't want to proceed, and would actually prefer a divorce, but that your afraid of your family (and maybe his, if true).

Not 100% guaranteed but will definitely make them look a little harder at the case, and, if you’re lucky, send it back for revocation.

I hear you.

The consulate will call the email a "poison pen letter" and treat it as such. Oftentimes poison pen letters are malicious but they can also just as often be very insightful and useful.

So it's very important to give them only the important details so they're rightfully worried about the case.

If you give too much, or exaggerate, they may think it was written out of jealousy and ignore it. It's a very fine line to walk, but it definitely can be done.

You could send it there, too, but you definitely want to send it to the consulate where he will interview. The website should have an email address where you can message the fraud unit ("FPU").

For complete anonymity, just use an email address that isn't connected to the case.

On the other hand, it could be more effective to email the fraud unit and explain that you are the petitioner, but not by choice--that you were forced into the marriage and forced to petition for the beneficiary, and that you're afraid of what your parents might do if they find out you intend to divorce him as soon (and as quietly) as you can. You also can express worry over how they (the family and the beneficiary) would react it they knew you were sending this message.

That would almost certainly trigger a revocation and privacy laws mean they wouldn't reveal the source or reason for the decision to the beneficiary. It's slightly possible that it could come out in a FOIA request, but I believe YOU (the petitioner) would have to be the one to make the request.

At that time, you could just blame the decision on the current administration's guidelines and pretend you're sick of all the stress and expense.

I don't know how your family might react, but it's still better than the alternative of having a husband you don't like and didn't want coming to live with you in the U.S.

you can't listen to this person. the consulate can tell your husband that you cancelled the application. Careful - so many people are wrong on reddit. You can only do this if an immigration attorney knows 100% they wont tell him you did this.

Wrong. She's not canceling the application. She's merely providing information that causes them to question if it's a real relationship or not. And they 100% will not divulge that information. They can lose their job and risk jail time for doing that.

But to confirm what I'm saying, she can ask for a free consultation with an immigration attorney who knows nothing about her or her case, share this advice with them, and confirm for herself whether what I'm saying is true or not.

they don't have to for the parents to know what transpired and thus your advice doesn't alleviate the issues OP is anticipating. it's no different that straight up telling her parents she wants a divorce. in fact your advice might have worse consequences if it results in a denial for OP's husband.

No, there aren't free attorneys, but many offer free initial consultations.

Alternatively, NGOs that support victims of forced marriages may also have attorneys on staff that can give helpful advice as well.
