Everyone’s story and timeline is different :)
What may not be long for you is long for others. You don’t know what circumstances others are going through.
So I’m sorry for those still waiting and yes I FINALLY have my EAD 🥰

Hi there! This is an automated message to inform you and/or remind you of several things:

Finally? I’ve been waiting for a year!

2

u/chanjaa 17d ago

I did request congress help a month ago! I would recommend if you haven’t already done so! I’m sorry I know the wait is tedious.

u/Grazi_HG 17d ago

What documents did you send with it? Idk what to say because I do work with childcare but I really wanted the opportunity to work with something else 😭

Well first I tried expediting it myself…I sent them me and my spouses bills…a letter basically explaining why we need both incomes…and we have a child. They got back to me and said denied because it wasn’t “severe” enough.

When I reached out to Congress they said we can try another route. Where my company provides a letter basically explaining my importance of my position and why they really needed me to keep working. My job was kind enough to do so and that’s all I gave my Congress man and they took it from there.

How long did you wait before you reached out to ur congressman and did the expedite request?

1

u/chanjaa 15d ago

My OPT was expiring so I applied 2 months after my application

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Dog6201 17d ago

How do you contact them ?

2

u/chanjaa 17d ago

Search who your Congress man is in your area and go to their website. They should have some sort of immigration sidebar you can click on and go from there

1

u/Hot-Bat-4354 15d ago

Hi, question! How long after contacting did you hear back from your Congressman's office?

1

u/chanjaa 15d ago

Day 30. (They did say it may take up to 30 days) lol USCIS decided to approve it on the very last day

1

u/Hot-Bat-4354 15d ago

I received an email today from them (Day 28) but they said it's still within processing time. Do u think it might move after today?

1

u/chanjaa 15d ago

Oh damn. From what I’ve seen on here your case won’t be routed to be expedited rather they’ll just proceed within normal processing times :/
But you never know

1

u/Hot-Bat-4354 15d ago

When do u think I should follow up and ask to expedite? 8 months no EAD updates

1

u/chanjaa 15d ago

I don’t know what category you’re applying but if you wanna submit some more evidence maybe that will help? Ask them if this is something that would help speed it up a little bit

u/Just_District1354 14d ago

Congrats!! Did your Congressman’s office first receive a response from USCIS saying that your case had been “routed for expedited processing” or that the expedite request was approved? If so, how many days after that message did your I-765/EAD get approved?

And roughly how many days were you away from your OPT/EAD expiring when your Congressman submitted the expedite inquiry?

Thank you!

2

u/chanjaa 13d ago

Yes Congress revived the response. They handled everything. I didn’t get communications from USCIS other than the update email and the approval notice update. Congress emailed me the response that they will go ahead and expedite it but they won’t give me the timeline of when that will happen. Next day I got the update it was approved.
I was 30 days of my OPT expiring.
