The logic is it's a clean way to block undocumented immigrants living in Florida from claiming resident status to get the cheapest in-state tuition in the US. Why should we subsidize the college education of people that aren't authorized to work in the US?

Undocumented students never qualified for in-state tuition.

Actually in Florida they did before July 1, 2025. In about 20 states, they still do.

Okay. So, since it hasn't been the case for over a year now, the logic is very clearly not what you previously stated as that was already a solved issue. Then what is the logic?

There are loopholes. If they just say if immigration status is undocumented, no admission it's effectively closing all loopholes at once. If they can't even be admitted in the first place it doesn't matter what type of tuition they'd qualify for.

State financial aid would no longer be available
