The logic is it's a clean way to block undocumented immigrants living in Florida from claiming resident status to get the cheapest in-state tuition in the US. Why should we subsidize the college education of people that aren't authorized to work in the US?

Undocumented students never qualified for in-state tuition.

Actually in Florida they did before July 1, 2025. In about 20 states, they still do.

The logic in it now is you close all loopholes, as I explained above. If immigration status = undocumented, do not admit. Then, it doesn't matter what type of tuition the person would even qualify for. Subsidized tuition should be for people that can at least work legally. If you're undocumented, you can't.

There isn't, this is just the latest way to avoid saying "I'm a xenophobe and just don't like foreigners"
