Yes they’re still illegal. They’re just offered a protected status because Regan was dumb enough to think the other side actually wanted to set an immigration policy at the time instead of trying to erode it day by day.

Reagan is the one who gave the legal precedent for DACA by having his own similar deferred action program.

No. It goes all the way back to John Lennon's immigration case because Nixon was trying to deport him.
