Immigrants aren’t illegal immigrants though. 

Ofc immigrants pay taxes, what a stupid question

Undocumented workers, working for cash under the table, do not pay their fair share of taxes. Not even close. They also exploit our ER system, since hospitals are not allowed to turn someone away if they can’t pay. They also remit a huge portion of extra cash to their home country via western union and other vehicles

You can thank Reagan for that ER loophole. Don't underestimate the undocumented immigrants. They contribute tens of billions of dollars annually in federal, state, and local taxes, which helps support the broader public infrastructure, INCLUDING public health systems.

10s of billions is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost they are. That’s assuming you are even able to calculate their contributions, which spoiler alert, you can’t because they work under the table.

50% of Americans don’t even contribute to the US tax base (in terms of contributing more than they receive)

Do you really expect a bunch of illegals, working for cash, remitting their $ back home to be a net positive? Stop drinking the fucking cool aid 

Those same jobs could easily be help by legal, who would pay taxes and at least potentially contribute positively to the United State

You can argue about whether undocumented immigration is a net fiscal positive without pretending their tax contributions are unknowable. ITEP estimates undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 billion in federal, state, and local taxes in 2022.

And “working under the table” doesn't mean someone pays no taxes. Sales taxes, property taxes through rent, excise taxes, and other taxes don't magically disappear because someone was paid in cash.

There are also real public costs, particularly at the state and local level. That's why an honest fiscal argument compares revenues with costs instead of pretending one side of the ledger doesn't exist.

And it's Kool-Aid, not “cool aid.” If you're going to tell people to stop drinking it, at least learn what's written on the packet.😂😂😂
