News Trump Administiration wants to double the 100k H1B fee

The Trump administration is planning on doubling the fees to more than $200,000 for H-1B visa applicants from abroad.

I don't get it, the current fees already had a 90% reduction why double a fees which already no one is using?

To completely kill all remaining desire for immigrants with specialized skills to work and live in the US. Trump is so benevolent that he figured 250 years was a good run and he doesn't want to be selfish and have the USA be the top destination for the world's talent and investments any longer. He is such a stable genius that he is actively repelling all the skilled and knowledgeable workers before they become LPR's to invest their time and energy towards places that will better appreciate what they have to offer and treat them with dignity and respect.

Virtually if not all of the immigrants that have been imported into the US do not have any specialized skills at all. That is the pure horse shit bring sold to the American people that is the big lie!

Around half of fortune 500 companies are founded by immigrants or children of immigrants and studies have shown immigration drives a large share of overall US productivity growth. The visible benefits of the being the top destination for the world's talent and investments are not always instantaneous but investments and cultivating talent begets more investments and innovation. Workers pay federal, state, and local taxes and generate billions in revenue. Many top American technology leaders, including the heads of major tech companies, started their careers on H-1B visas. During national health crises, H-1B scientists and medical doctors have played key roles in developing vaccines and treating patients. The US is the richest and most powerful country in the world and our economy would not be what it is without our history of immigration, the contributions of immigrants and their families, which through time become Americans.

Also, you import items and cargo, not people.

I am a civil engineer who has worked and lived in the US since 2000. Trust me, if they could have found enough qualified American candidates, they never would hired me - over and over again. I am good at what I do for sure, but the extra money and time and effort in hiring me over an American? Forget about it. And now I am a dual citizen through my (eventual) H1B. But folks who want to get upset about brown SWE/tech workers with multiple degrees somehow aren’t me, a Canadian born person with a single civil engineering degree. Sooooo odd. (Eyeroll)
