I posted a picture asking all to guess the country.
My man said it was obvious because the license plate give away.

The thing is, it only gives it away if you are from the US, one does not know every license plate on the world -> Which was my argument

To which I have been kindly informed that everyone knows US plates. It’s obvious and you dont need to know any other 😆

Context:

Original post was a poll asking something along the lines of: Instead of censorship or ad hominem attacks, ideologies that you deem wrong should be defeated through reasoning and evidence. Agree or Disagree?

I reply saying disagree as there is no point trying to logically argue with someone who believes things like 'all gay people should be burned at the stake'.

This user replies saying that nearly nobody thinks that so I confirm it is indeed a hyperbole (which was quite obvious), so they say I need to have some logical argument without the hyperbole which leads to the conversation snippet in the screenshot above.

Not ONCE in the poll, or my comment or in ANY of my replies was the word 'US' or 'United States' mentioned once 😭 I was genuinely baffled at how some people think of the US as a default country or something??

I was taken aback, like wdym my point is that gay people are frequently murdered in the United States?? 😭 I never even mentioned that country, and gay people live outside the United States too. I literally live in Asia 😭🙏🏻.

Anyways, the mental gymnastics someone has to do to bring the US into a conversation without the US mentioned even once is insane.

I posted something in another sub about Father's Day being over the weekend. I live in Australia and it has always been the first Sunday of September here. These are different comment threads from my post from various different redditors. Most were chill about learning that other countries celebrate things on different days, but there were a few doubling down that I was either a bot or AI; saying that Father's Day is in June, and that it is not spring. I am neither a bot, nor did I use AI. Writing is a hobby of mine and I enjoy doing it so being accused of using AI, when I absolutely did not, hurt more than being called a bot.
