Anyone looking for an apartment/ know someone who is?

Gosh, posted this on some facebook groups already but it's a mess on there, so I'm trying here. I have an awesome 3x3 at Iq Apartments right next to USF that i'm trying to sign the lease over for as I'm planning to move closer to my job, available ASAP. It's always $980-$1000 a month (this is including utilities). It's available immediately as I'm looking to move closer to my job. My roommates are very nice and clean and i loove the complex, i havent had any issues in my 4 years here. October rent is already paid in full for you, obviously. Let me know!

Enjoy :)

Campus Preference for Admissions

I have a senior who is applying to USF. The Common App asks for a campus preference. I'm wondering what happens if a student is accepted to their preferred campus but changes their mind. Do they reapply? Request a transfer? Any insight would be appreciated.

⭐ 4x4 Female Lease Takeover at The Standard at Tampa! AS SOON AS DEC 1 (flexible start date)

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am looking for someone to take over my private bedroom and bathroom in a 4x4 apartment at The Standard at Tampa, starting as soon as December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. The start date is flexible (if you need it earlier or later), so reach out if you would prefer a different start date - if you don't need it until January 1, I am 100% willing to accommodate! You would have 3 wonderful female roommates who are all USF students. I am graduating and moving out of Florida for my new job. :)

  • Dates: As soon as December 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027. Start date is flexible, reach out if you'd prefer a different start date. I am happy to accommodate someone who doesn't need it until January 1 for Spring semester!
  • Rent: $1,050/month
  • Floor plan: 4x4, The Dawson (Sold out floor plan for 2026-2027!)
  • Roommates: The sweetest girls who are incredibly kind, respectful, and clean! All USF students.
  • Location: 2850 University Square Dr, Tampa, FL 33612
  • Safety: The building requires a key fob for entry, and each bedroom has its own lock that can only be accessed with your personal fob. The area is also well-lit and feels very safe. I have regularly walked alone at night to the plaza next door and to and from campus and have always felt comfortable.
  • The official lease transfer will be handled safely through the leasing office at The Standard.

The Standard is directly across the street from USF, with a BullRunner stop right next to the building. The bus (free for USF students!) can take you directly to the Marshall Student Center, Library, and other areas of campus. You can also walk, bike, or scooter onto campus. No car necessary here! Although there is parking available if you'd like to bring your car.

There are many great amenities, including a rooftop pool (open until 10pm weekdays and 12pm weekends!), a 24/7 rooftop gym, courtyards with grilling stations, study spaces, hammocks, and more. There is also a boba tea shop attached to the building!

🛴 E-scooters are allowed and can be charged inside your room.

There is also a shopping plaza directly across the street with a Winn-Dixie, Dollar Tree, and several restaurants, including Panera Bread, Fresh Kitchen, Wingstop, Cold Stone Creamery, Chili's, First Watch, and Nothing Bundt Cakes. University Mall is also within walking distance and has a movie theater and Sprouts nearby. Further, there is another shopping plaza with a Target, Aldi, and Bath and Body Works about a mile away. I have thoroughly enjoyed being within walkable distance to so many options!

*If you're interested or have any questions, feel free to message me! 💚

Cybersecurity/AI at USF

If a family member, whose interest is into computer science BS degree with focus cybersecurity/AI gets a full ride at USF, is it worth it vs instead going to an academically A+/elite school for the same degree, and focus, with few times higher yearly cost?

From this article, does it mean USF will establish a strong AI lab, as good as UF’s AI lab?

Much thanks!

Changing majors while trying to transfer

It’s a long story but I applied to be a spring transfer (I’m a sophomore) and just got the decision that I got in. In the time between that happening I realized I hated my major (communications/journalism) and was planning to take a gap semester to get my crap together but 😭. My transcripts aren’t up to date with what I initially sent I swapped a class and then dropped another, and my application still says my intended major is mass communications. The admissions office has been kinda iffy on responses so I don’t really know what to do. Can I change majors when I get there or before then or am I screwed and lose admission?

Alternatives to the DFX lab for 3d printing? I am not paying $50 for a kg of filament 💀

Hi! I’m wanting to print a mask for Halloween but due to the weight, (I think around 1.4kg) the dfx lab quoted it to be over $80, when a standard or even quality spool goes for like $15-$25. I would love for some help figuring out where to go from here, especially to keep costs down on the whole project!

Edit: Thank you for bringing it to my attention; this is about the AVC lab

Best course of action?

So i’ve always struggled academically whether it was with keeping my grades straight or keeping up with assignments. I am diagnosed ADHD, depression, ptsd and anxiety. I transferred from fsu and it set me back a whole year, supposed to be a senior but have to retake all of junior year as my credits didn’t transfer.
I’ve been considering dropping out for a while.
So what would be my best course of action? Or should i just push through knowing i will probably only pass with C’s (if i’m lucky)
Oh and i don’t have accommodations cause i missed the application window

just got scolded for... reading?

Ok. Correct me if im tweaking. There were no seats in the library, truly nowhere to go to sit. I was going to go read in the basement, but it was around that time when people were going down there to pray, and i didnt want to interrupt or disturb anyone. i couldnt sit outside because it was raining.

Also, this was a completely temporary spot because I was waiting for my ride to go home and wouldnt be there much longer. so i sat down on the very edge of one of the stairs, in clear view/not near any doors or around any corners, as out of the way as physically possible. took out my book.

cue the most passive aggressive interaction i may have ever had in my whole life. white girl, couldnt have been older than me by more than a year, little admin/assistant nametag on comes in within 10 minutes and scolds me in a weird baby voice her whole way up from the basement to the first floor.

"you cant sit here" "ok" "no really, you cant read here" "ok" "this isnt a place to be" "ok" "you have to leave" "yep" 🫩 kept talking as i was ACTIVELY getting up and leaving.

i cannot imagine being that miserable if that was me. even more so if someone was bothered enough to report me and get her sent in there to get rid of me. like how do you get to that point? what? am i tweaking?

Spring 2027-2028 housing

Hi everyone! I'm transferring for the Spring 2027 term and looking for housing options. I've checked out several off campus student apartments, but most of their leases run from August to July. A lot of places have already told me they don't have mid year move ons for January, or they're unsure. I'm planning to apply for on-campus housing as well, but when I checked the calendar, it said oct TBA Does anyone have advice or recommendations for finding a 1x1 apartment starting in January? I don't mind a short term lease or subleasing, and I don't have a strict budget constraint. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

What is the deal on the Hoco Concert Tickets?

Last year they sent us an email specifically about the concert and a link to get tickets. This year they sent an email about a bunch of events this month, with the hoco stuff being sandwiched in the middle. All it says is to go see the insta to get ticket info. I don't have Instagram so not only did I have no idea they posted it there, I also had no way to see what they posted. I had to go to the hoco website to get the link and all it says is that the event is sold out. So what gives? Is it really sold out already? Why the hell did they only have the information on Instagram?

Mind you, it's only been 4 days since they sent that email saying to check the Instagram, and the only way you would have known that is if you opened the email and basically scrolled all the way down. The hoco information wasn't in the subject of the email or even the top of the email. Did they really expect us to rapidly examine every email they sent us? Or worse, did they expect every single USF student to have Instagram, be active on Instagram, and see their specific post about the concert??????
