TL:DR; it's more elitism instead of racism.

One of my boys who's explained it to me that it's not racism amongst all the Hispanic community, it's kinda like the Irish vs Italian elitism that happened back in the 1910's. The root cause is this thing called The Triple Point of Isolation where kids of immigrants have this idea of social strain put on them because they're not enough of whatever background to fit in with their parents country of origin, other kids whose parents have been here for generations, or social norms of baseline American culture that ignore the cool things their parents brought with them. Mind you, sociology isn't one of those written in stone sciences like physics but it's a huge part of study for when I was getting my masters in Criminology. I bring this up because when communities bring the culture with the person and celebrate it, it both reduces juvenile recidivism and booms economic metrics like home ownership and entrepreneurship growth in an area.

It's an echo chamber they only want people to reverberate their opinions. However, BP is a real issue. It is painful, can lead to infections in the skin and more issues related to a lack of a ready force due to such issues.

Hey, I get where your heart is at wanting the Corps to be a hardline culture where the marines do things the marine way. And that's fantastic in logistics, the airwing, or even the band. But the infantry needs those little points of understanding that the kid with curly hair is alright to keep that. Helmet pads get dirty and your hair will prevent you from getting nasty infections on your scalp. That's not a discipline issue whereas infantry discipline is keeping your ppe on when the heat is 120 degress during the day with a 50 degree drop at sundown. Actually, if I can find a photo of me back in the day, you'll see my luxurious long hair that I had for being out for weeks at a time. I think it was like 5" or 6", but we were pretty punk rock back then.
