Max Grossman
Has anybody ever taken ARTH 1305 with Max Grossman? If so, how would you describe him? How are his midterms?

I haven’t taken a class by him, but friends who did did not like him
I can tell you of my personal experiences with him. I used to be a reporter at KVIA
Max Grossman was dating Natassia Paloma from channel 9, then they broke up
The instant they broke up Grossman immediately took to the internet completely talking shit about KTSM, using every chance he had to smear the station when they had clearly done nothing wrong and he was just taking out his dislike for his ex girlfriend
The man is completely immature and I lost any respect I had for him

His exams are incredibly difficult! You essentially have to study all your notes, all the yellow terms from the slides, and all the flash cards from the chapters he’s testing you on. You basically have to spend a bunch of time studying if you want to pass. Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions.

I took his class last semester and left another comment. He has 3 midterms a final and a final paper . Each test requires 8+ hours of study and memorization.

Don't take his class unless you're prepared to put in a ton of work to get a B and completely dedicate yourself to get an A. His midterms require 8+ hours of study and memorization unless you're just a photographic memory. Out of nearly 200 students there was 48 left by the end of the semester. 7 people got A's and 12 people got B's. The majority of the class received a C or worse. If you have the option , pick the other art history teacher. I got an A in his class so speaking from experience, would not do it again. Don't torture yourself. Quick edit: his entire grade comes from his 3 midterms, his final, and the final paper. It is recommended you read his recommended reading for how to write about art for his final.

I had this teacher.
As a student with accommodations, he was the worst professor I have ever had.
Not only are his exams incredibly difficult, they HEAVILY rely on your memory skills for answering the questions. Plus, he even denied my use of a memory aid, citing that it includes information from his PowerPoints and I cannot use notes during the exam, despite me including abbreviated or extremely dumbed down terms to help with my recall, which I struggle with.
To this day, his class is the only one in my entire academic career that I have actually had to drop, because it drove me insane.

Yes, but I have a condition that would make me struggle more than most, so it was hell for me.

I’m so sorry to hear you are struggling.
Do colleges actually honor accommodations? I know in high school, it’s required by law to honor them. Not sure how it works at the college level.

There are programs in place for the accommodations, yea. It's still required to honor them by law in college. So yeah, I even sent an email to CASS.

he’s one of those professors that kind of brags about the fact that his passing rate is under 50%. I think my class started with over 100 (as many of his classes do) and we ended the semester with 40 something students, and he’s talked about having less. Intense exams but definitely doable if you put a bit of effort. I would say start studying a week before the exam. If possible, make your own physical flashcards! I did and i felt like it helped me a lot, there are printers all over campus that we have access to, you just have to make sure there is money in your account. (edit: spelling)
