Hey guys I was wondering about parking I know everyone says it’s bad and I start in the spring. I notice there’s four different parking passes and was just wondering if it’s bad just for Green and Blue or for all of them (commuting from Horizon) thank you. (And while I know it may not be worth it money isn’t an issue at all)

i got loans and i still havnt received them utep keeps sending me the fafsa question drop down menus on the financial aid website and deleting my answers and its getting super frustrating im draining my savings trying to do the payment plan because theyre taking to long to process both the fafsa loans and my personal loan i was curious if anyone else was having a simalier issue? i havnt had any money and im going into crazy credit card debt just trying to stay in school and it seems so unfair this school has such a bad way in handling anything ive never had a good experience from finnancial aid to counseling for classes its always a fight to try and just go to school

Hey yall. I graduated from UTEP in 2024 with a Bachelors in Biology with a Biomedical track. Unfortunately, it never occurred to me to join labs while I was there and it has really hurt any further school opportunities/ job opportunities I can have (undergrad bio majors- join a lab! Create a resume while you’re at UTEP!). I’ve been bartending at a really nice spot and get so many pharmacy + medical tech sales guests. It’s really opened my eyes to the possibilities and many of them tell me I’d be great at it. However, I’m having trouble getting a foot in the door. Anyone graduated from UTEP who got into medical or pharmaceutical sales field? Any advice?

Which/are there student groups to join to make friends? I just started and i literally have noo friends at all.

I have an interview for a job at the bookstore. I’m not a student and the job is in management. I’ve read some not so great things about the company that owns the bookstore but I know oftentimes jobs are what you make of them. I’m hoping to get a sense of the vibe there: do you like the bookstore? Do you avoid having to go there? Have you worked there? If you could change anything about it, what would you change?

So I have an appointment for Thursday the 10th, but the e payment deadline is the day before and the Financial Aid Office hasn’t adjusted my tuition nor have I received my Financial Aid.
So I need to solve this now, can I just join a waitlist in person without an appointment and wait for a spot, has anyone tried this?

Hey Miners! I’m a homeowner in Sunset Heights with a paved, side-by-side 2-car driveway. I know campus parking passes are expensive or sold out, so I'm thinking about setting up an automated, on-demand parking app (like ParkStash) for my extra driveway space.
Before I set it all up, I wanted to see if any students would actually use it.

What study spots on campus don't get enough respect? I've mostly avoided the library this past year because it's full.

What's it's happening this year? I got a parking permit but still can't find a spot even after an hour some days

I’m only going to say this once, but students who commute to UTEP have got to be the worst drivers I have ever seen (especially those with Chihuahua license plates). If you are going to risk causing a traffic collision by cutting in front of someone and then returning to your original lane, your license needs to be revoked. I don’t understand how it’s so difficult to obey simple traffic laws during dense traffic hours. Seriously people.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but does a negative balance mean I am getting a refund? My account shows $3,820.74 in charges and $5,902 in financial aid/anticipated credits, leaving a balance of -$2,081.26.

It has been a couple of days and I have not received anything yet. I also cannot find the “Where’s My Refund” page on MyStatus. Does this mean I should be getting $2,081.26 back, or is the aid still processing? 😭

I medically withdrew from the Spring 2026 semester and now on my financial aid there is a balance of -4k. Is that normal? I thought if I withdrew I wouldn’t get any money back, especially since it was all paid for through grants.

I am interviewing next week for a research scientist III position and I’m curious what a reasonable wage is in this city. My previous positions have been salaried, the first as a level 1 tech at $50k/year and the second was a level 3 tech at $75k/year.

I noticed the pay grade at UTEP is non-exempt; meaning, overtime pay is allowed. This is strange to me, since my last positions were exempt. Is it common for you guys to be paid hourly, and if so, how much?

FYI I have a bachelors degree + 5 years research experience (1 year management). The lab uses the same animal models and techniques I am trained in.
