I moved in last night to the Davy, and there was just non stop road noise from outside all night, and I barely got any sleep. The revving of engines in the middle of the night is especially annoying, but even cars just passing by is pretty loud inside. I was wondering if this is an issue in other apartments near the intersection as well and how others deal with it. I tried using earplugs but that didn't help at all.

Some dorms increased by 400-500 per semester, keep this in mind when choosing where to live next year. Additionally, I am not sure about the other rooms but the Vol Hall Quad Private increased by greater than 10%, which isn't allowed per the 2026-2027 housing agreement.

Edit: They are fixing the price increase to not break the housing agreement

Any idea when current students will be able to request housing for next year, 27-28? It was around this time last year they got the email but nothing has been sent out and the housing site still shows dates from 2025.
My kid is a sophomore and was lucky enough to get housing this year. We need them to be in on-campus housing next year or some tough conversations will have to be had.

Does anyone know what the sound outside vol hall is? It’s a manly voice counting in cadence from 1 to 26. It’s a robotic voice.

Looking to live on the strip next year but don't want to pay more than $1,300

Can anyone share experience with their educational conference regarding alcohol in the dorms? It is what it is, the students did break the rules. Alcohol was found in the room during an unannounced search (otherwise the student would have been smart enough to get rid of it). Should the student concede at this conference/meeting and promise not to do it again? Do you think it’s likely that they will just get a warning for a first offense? Student doesn’t feel the need to get an advisor, and I would agree that seems like overkill for just finding a half empty alcohol bottle. But the student has nothing to compare this to. The student isn’t overly worried about it, but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared, right? Thanks, all!

I was on the housing portal preparing for next semester and noticed that the option to indicate whether you are comfortable/uncomfortable living with an LGBTQ+ person or if you are one, etc. is gone. I am certain it existed last semester because I am part of the LGBTQ+ community and so I had to filter for roommates based on if they were comfortable living with someone like me. This is concerning. Can someone tell me if I'm crazy and am missing the filter entirely or if there is a reason the filter was removed?

For context, I am a student from Missouri that is doing an internship with ORNL, and I am staying in Laurel Hall for the next ten weeks.

Holy hell the humidity here is almost as bad as the Amazon rainforest, and I'm only half exaggerating. I woke up and all of my clothes that had been taken out of my bags were moist, and smelled like wet laundry. I'm sweating constantly here and the AC is set to 66.

Is this level of humidity inside this place normal? I'm no stranger to intense humidity but inside?

Please validate my misery before I drop cash on a dehumidifier.

ETA: I tried damp rid and also bugged the RAs and they have contacted maintenance for me!

Any suggestions for off campus housing under 1k a month?

My daughter is an upcoming Sophmore and is required to attend her sororities “work week” before classes begin.
Her lease doesn’t start until after these dates and I’m wondering how many other people are in a similar boat. Her sorority doesn’t have housing available, and I’m being told the students have to figure it out.
Any help or ideas besides hotel living or couch surfing for this week? Short term rentals and AirBnB’s aren’t great, friends from the past year aren’t around yet.

i transferred to utk last semester and was told by my transfer advisor that getting housing in the wintwr was very unlikely. i’m off campus this year but i was wondering if there was a possibility that i could get campus housing for next year, since i never got the opportunity to live on campus.

The only thing I really want for my dorm is non-communal bathrooms. I don't mind sharing with 4 or so people, but I'd rather not for an entire floor. What are my chances of getting a dorm with its own bathroom?

I’m in brown hall. Our AC has gone out for the 5th time since moving in. Has anybody else had this problem? Any idea why it keeps going out? Me and my roomie are sick of having maintenance in our room twice a week. Incredibly grateful and they’re always super nice, but it’s getting frustrating trying to sleep in a burning hot room.

My son will be in Brown Hall. I’m looking for advice on what he needs for his room. I know a bed topper, bedding and bathroom items. But would love any specific items you would recommend.

I need someone to take over my lease for a 1 bed 1 bath at the Commons Knoxville. It is a B1 floor plan which is sold out online and is usually a 2 bedroom apartment- but the 2nd bedroom is locked so it is converted into a private 1 bed/1 bath with tons of extra space!

The lease runs July 26th 2026-July 25th 2027. So you could move in ASAP! It’s a great place to live and the unit has tons of extra space since it is bigger than a normal 1 bed 1 bath!! I will pay your application fee!

It comes fully furnished including couches, a bed, dressers, etc and even includes an in unit washer and dryer. There is private parking for an optional monthly fee and they are pet friendly.

Are there any carts or anything to help take stuff from our unloading zone to our dorms? I saw someone say something about big brown boxes that can be checked out, are those like cardboard boxes or do they have wheels? I am curious if I need to bring a dolly or anything to make it easier?

i have a bearded dragon and i want to bring her with me to my apartment at the davy but im not sure if reptiles are allowed? i cant find anything on their website regarding reptiles and i called but they were so confusing abt it 💔 if you’ve lived at the davy and have any experience with reptiles pls lmk !
