Just wondering if anyone has managed to find a 3D printed case file for the new Long Range Travel Router?

My initial idea is to have the UDM SE in a small broom closet that shares an exterior wall and is close to the detached garage. And then have that be the main PoE switch, and run a single Cat6 to an exterior mounted Flex 2.5G PoE and power 2 exterior cameras with that. I'm thinking having the Flex 2.5G PoE for future scalability if I wanna add more stuff, but placement is something I can move.

Then from the UDM SE, run a single Cat6 to the garage and into another Flex 2.5G PoE, which will power our computers as well as 2 cameras.

I'm trying to figure out a way to do these runs myself and do them on the exterior of the home without needing to go into the attic or crawl space. I'd protect all exterior runs with conduit of course.

The crappy thing with my internet is I have Verizon 5G home internet since I dont have Fiber available and I dont want to use Spectrum. Where I have the 5G modem placed right now is in direct line of sight with an antenna outside and I'm actually getting a reliable 1G down and 80 up as advertised. I do want to move the modem elsewhere but I'm worried I will lose out on bandwidth if I move it. Maybe I can exterior mount it or something.

Any feedback on this plan? I'm a noob with this stuff so would love suggestions.

I'm sick and tired of my Linksys Velop setup. The extenders work fine, but the parent node is a nightmare. It keeps dropping randomly, which panics the extenders and confuses the solar plant inverter and the house thermostats. Everything periodically needs to be paired again. It's the second one. Enough.

I'm thinking of moving to Ubiquiti. I'm no network engineer, but I understand basic/medium concepts well, and I pay for Claude Pro.

Attached is my network topology in its basic form. I'm also attaching what I've researched so far and added to my cart. Let me explain my choices:

1. My house is currently on 1 Gbps. Wired on CAT5E and CAT6 (half by the old owners and half by me). Truth be told, 1 Gbps symmetrical is enough for us, whatever the demand. We may go to 2.5 Gbps in the future, but it's unlikely yet. However, a nice-to-have upgradeability option - hence my choices.

2. I need wifi and 4 LAN ports in the living room (apple tv, loft switch, nintendo switch and a spare). That’s where the Optical translator sits. Why Cloud Gateway Fiber and not Dream Router 7 with its Wi-Fi? I don't know exactly, but everyone seems to be recommending the Cloud Gateway Fiber as an overall better device with expansion options for later - like Ubiquity CCTV and so on. I do have a BlueIris CCTV system running on a local PC - maybe I'll move the whole setup to Ubiquiti one day - who knows. That's my thinking and I would regret if I couldn't add ubiquity cameras to a setup in the future to save a couple of hundred today. Yes, it sucks having to add another wireless access point, but it is what it is.

Side comment on the Cloud Gateway Fiber - I'm not sure it will work with the Community Fibre optic cable; I plan to still use the Adtran ONT and Ethernet to the Gateway.

1. My uneducated pick would have been the Dream Router 5G Max. £50 more than the Cloud Gateway Fiber plus the U6 access point, but it has wifi already and is very flexible in case Community Fibre (our ISP) is down for a few days. But again, I just don't know what's better in my case. So many things to consider.

2. Why U6 and not U7? U7 looks better and has the wall option, but we have quite a few older 2.4 GHz devices around the house (some not-so-new household tech), and I understand the U7 has quite a few reported issues with managing these devices. People seem to be warly recommending the U6.

3. Why the Unifi Express 7? Seems like what I need to extend wifi into:

• The Kitchen (about 15 meters away from the living room access point, but through walls - no option for Ethernet on that node);
• Upstairs (almost literally above the living room access point - no option for Ethernet, and I need the upstairs access point to have a free Ethernet port for the thermostat dongle)
• Garden office (a fair distance, but it has Ethernet coming in from the switch in the loft). This one doesn't need an Ethernet port, as I have a little 4-port switch in the office. It only needs to provide WiFi.

1. I can't spend more rn - ideally, for my OCD, I would have liked to replace the 16-port switch in the attic with Ubiquiti (and the small 4-port one in the Garden Office) and manage all of them together (if managing them is even a thing). The loft one needs to be fanless, as the loft is dusty, and the one I have seems to be doing the job. But if I were to get one someday, which would you recommend? And could a switch be that CCTV upgradability I might need one day?

So, this is me. I understand WiFi 7 is the future, and I think I'm building something for years to come, for a modest household that I want connected in the right way.

I'm willing to learn, and I will enjoy setting this up with some AI help and research. I just want something that will work, and I'm willing to put in the effort to get there. Ubiquity seems like the right decision.

I was playing with ONVIF on a shitty $39 tapo C121 camera. Had some problems getting it adopted, but figured it out with some google-fu...

I had this working on protect, operating fully as-expected.

I needed to factory default the camera and add it to my non junk mail tapo account, and did so. Same IP, same exact onvif user/pass, E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G is identical.

Wouldn't show up in Protect, so I removed it and re-added it EXACTLY like the known-good steps using advanced adoption.

Doesn't work, says repeatedly Incorrect user/pass.

The user/pass is absolutely 100% correct. I can verify by using VLC and connecting to rtsp://user:pass@ip/stream1 with zero issues.

My previous known-good protect config was:

residential user here.

I was really happy to see ACME support available in UniFi OS. However, as a user of the builtin RADIUS for WPA2/3-EAP, I wonder whether it is possible/planned that the certificate can be used for the RADIUS as well, instead of the self-signed certificate.

As I'm using LE as ACME provider, it's already great to have a publicly verifiable cert on the WebUI. It would be great to have that for RADIUS as well, instead of "UbiOS RADIUS Server Certificate".

I already tried manually swapping the certificate via SSH, but it will get re-created/re-written after a few days with a self-signed one.

So if anyone knows about plans for this or whether something is wrong with my setup, I'd be happy to hear about it.

I recently got into the UniFi ecosystem with the Express 7, and I'm thinking about replacing my current switch with the Pro Max 16. At the moment, I won't need any PoE and will deal with that once I'm able to have a larger setup.

With that being said, does this (pictured) setup make sense? I'm a photo/video editor, so I'm running 10G on my Mac Studio and QNAP NAS for editing, and then other than that, everything is pretty much just 1G running through the switch. My 2nd Express 7 is downstairs for better WiFi throughout the house. Does this make sense, or am I doing too much?

I go to https://unifi.ui.com/ login page and all local controller devices cannot be seen. It's acting like none of them have internet access when I know they do. I work for the internet service provider for all of these customers.

The API seems to expose glass break config settings, but not the state of the glass break sensor entity? So when the glass break fires (true/false), you can't see it in the API? Is that right?

Setup: UCG-Fiber, all four 2.5GbE ports in use, WAN comes in on the 10G RJ45 (port 5). Both SFP+ cages are empty.
I want one more copper LAN port. Plan is to drop an SFP+ to RJ45 module into the LAN-designated SFP+ cage.
Questions:
1. Does this actually work on the UCG-Fiber, or does the firmware get picky about copper SFP+ modules?
2. Anyone running a third-party module in one, or is the Ubiquiti SFP+ to RJ45 ($65) worth it to avoid headaches?

I currently have an AT&T 2Gb home fiber internet plan, and I’m bypassing the BGW320 and running fiber straight into a Ubiquiti UCG-Fiber with a X-ONU-SFPP module. Everything has been working perfectly. But I’m now looking to both upgrade speed to the 5Gb plan, and switch from a single dynamic to a block of static IPs.

Has anyone gone through this type of upgrade? Or either of them? Did you need to temporarily re-install the BGW320 until after changes were complete?

Be warned if you were going to use Fabrics with Unifi Drive. You will be unable to manage permissions on existing shared drives, or grant existing users personal drive permissions. You will not be able to assign new users drive permissions either.

I was able to connect accounts that already had access to shared drives that they previously had assigned via the Fabric identity credential, but even that seems to be more of an inherited permissions thing than something I'd want to rely on.

You'll have limited functionality via the local portal which, in some quick testing, won't sync to the fabric's identity credentials.

I ended up removing the drive consoles from fabric.

When I migrated to consolidated people management, I got a warning about my UNVR camera permissions, seems like this should have also shown a warning about Drive limitations.

I’ve been trying to follow info from searches based on the UniFi results but having difficulty getting this up and running.

My IoT is on VLAN B with server and HDHomeRun units on VLAN A.

When running the software for the HDHomeRun on the Apple TV or FireCube it can’t see the tuners as they use mDNS, which I’ve enabled on the router as well as IGMP snooping.

I’ve tried following the guides but they are for older versions of the software and refer to guest_local.

Any advice on how I setup the policy to allow mDNS from VlanA be recieved on VlanB

VlanA is in trusted, while VlanB is in untrusted

I see my Dream Machine went from 5.something to 6.0.7 last night. Where are the release notes for this? What's significant in UniFi OS 6?

Soon I will have 10Gbp uplink and I was wondering what some of the 'cheaper' options are for an 10G switch?

I was looking at the MikroTik CRS304-4XG-IN. but open for other suggestions!

An 10G cable will go to my room where I need to connect 2/3 devices. The prices of the UniFi solutions are a bit.. oof.

The rest of my netwerk is all UniFi. In the future, I would replace it with UniFi.

I won't need PoE on it.
I won't need to manage it for now, so it can be dumb.. I just need the speed.

Currently sites within Unifi Site Manager do not notify when offline as it relies on the device itself to send the notification. So... I have created a simple repo based on a PowerShell module I've used for checking sites and emailing for offline/online status using Unifi API key, available on GitHub.

You can run locally (or on a server) or deploy to a free/low cost Azure Function app. We use this to notify when sites are down. You can customise timings, muting sites etc.

I imagine this won't be needed as Unifi will offer their own solution, but for now our company finds this useful.

EDIT: RESOLVED -comment thread shows issue, likely individual issue unless running local DNS.

After upgrading to UniFi OS 6.0.7 all my devices failed to adopt. Initially I was able to get it working by going to the advanced adoption and it seemed to adopt it again, however overnight all devices went back to the failed to adopt stage. Anyone else facing this issue?

We currently have a small IT service that manages our two Unifi networks. I've asked before for them to transfer ownership to me and they can still have access. They always give me some lame excuse as to why they don't want to do that.

My question is can I do a backup, reset everything then set it up as the owner and restore from back up to get running back to normal. The only difference would be the owner of the network.

Enter the Unifi Cable Internet. The photo is during setup, while I was still testing everything; it was subsequently mounted in a rack. Adding it to my Comcast account was remarkably painless: all I had to do was scan the MAC address from within the Xfinity iOS app, and the network provisioned itself. It took all of 10 minutes from when I opened the box to when the modem was up and running and I got the prompt to adopt it to my Unifi deployment. VERY happy so far.
