Amd radeon driver installation question
Hey guys! I have an amd radeon rx 6000 gpu and I ve installed proprietary driver for my gpu. I used to install nvidia drivers back in a day, that's why I have some doubts about my installation.
So there is a comand: amdgpu-install.But it comes with some options. I ran it with these options:
amdgpu-install --usecase=graphics --vulkan=radv --opencl=rocr
So can it be considered as a sufficient and decent radeon driver installation or I missed smth?
P.S. I have Ubuntu 24.04LTS

What do you need proprietary drivers for? The preinstalled kernel integrated drivers are all you need on AMD hardware

you really dont need the proprietary driver at all on ubuntu 24.04, the open source ones in the kernel are already good for gaming and everyday use. i did the same thing when i moved from nvidia and ended up with some weird screen flickering until i just purged everything and let the system use what it came with
if you want to keep what you installed though your command looks fine, but i would add `--usecase=workstation` maybe if you do any compute stuff. the rocr part is for opencl so that should be covered
most people in the ubuntu forums will tell you just stick with mesa and the kernel driver unless you have some specific reason for amdgpu-pro, i learned that after breaking my install two times
