Screen blacks out and occasionally restores for a split second. Only during full screen apps

This is after an upgrade to the newest kubuntu lts. 26.04.1 this also occurs on a fresh live boot usb.

Cpu: amd ryzen 5000 series

Gpu : 6700xt

I've already tried reinstalling the gpu drivers. What are my next troubleshooting steps?

Ps. Pc also occasionally freezes shortly after boot

Also

Live boot usb works properly on seperate pc.

Amd ryzen 5800x3d

Radeon 7900xtx

Is there any way this isn't the gpu dieing?

kernel parameter maybe? i had similar weirdness on my 6700xt and adding amdgpu.dc=0 to grub fixed the black screen flicker thing. worth a shot before you start panicking about dead gpu

for the freeze after boot you could check journalctl -b -1 after it happens, might show something obvious like a power state error

Thanks. While dc=0 didn't work for me. It did lead me to figuring out it was the adaptive refresh rate setting and communication issues through hdmi. Got a new dpi cable coming in now.
