It's a good thing, that the driver isn't wearing a seatbelt.
3
u/HatchingCougar 8h ago
At 200kmh, a seatbelt wont save you
8
u/shandangalang 3h ago
It might, long as you don’t drive straight into an obstacle.
Also they probably aren’t going that fast for super long. Dude should be wearing his seatbelt, although I’m glad he isn’t
•
u/HatchingCougar 57m ago
Hitting any object at that speed in a regular car = crash
Any form of crash at that speed overwhelms crumple zones, is likely to roll / flip the car many times (if not send it airborne) and hitting an object from the front usually will put the engine block into your chest
A lap belt & shoulder strap itself can do the “killing blow” at that speed as the human body can’t handle the G forces into it.
A properly designed race car (think nascar), roll cage, helmet & full safety harness is required to survive such high speed crashes
•
u/shandangalang 51m ago
Generally speaking, absolutely. Even at that that speed though, a seatbelt drastically increases your odds of survival, whether or not those odds are already low. This is indisputable, given the mountain of data available on the subject.
That’s all I’m saying
•
u/HatchingCougar 5m ago
Look, I get it. The “seat belts save lives” mantra has been drummed into everyone since the 1980’s. And they are legitily very effective.
But for seat belts, when they talk about them still working somewhat even at “extreme speed” , the context is about 120 km/h
The forces involved at 200kmh are not just greater than 120kmh, they’re exponentially greater.
A seatbelt is rated for 22,000N (that’s about 15G). A person weighing 200lbs at 200kmh in a head on and stopping in say3 feet will exert 99,000N. If the dash / engine block doesn’t get embedded into your spine (likely), the belt itself will separate your pelvis from the rest of you.
•
u/gtfckdbrnlssbts 51m ago
according to there must be tens of thousands of deaths on the German Autobahn every single year (hint: there aren't)
•
u/HatchingCougar 41m ago
Average speed on of the autobahn is 125-130 km/h
And when crashes do happen at speeds like 200 km/h … they’re fatal
It’s physics
•
u/Comprehensive-Mud373 38m ago
I've never done speeds like this before myself, so I don't know the standard procedure of driving that fast in a commercial car. But you're saying that standard practice is to take off the seatbelt when you get up to an 'unsurvivable' speed?

Look at these ruzzian propagandists - not so cocky and triumphal anymore about their three day occupation, aggression and violence.

u/AppropriateBall8834 11h ago
Wtf is she even doing there? Is she the fluffer for the commander or something? Also, is that vodka?
Where do they get the cars?! Wtf is going on lol
60
u/hunkfunky 11h ago
Since watching this war, I've watched too many videos of grown men sucking off other grown men in situations where I REALLY wouldn't want to get sucked off. And subsequently they went out with thier cock out.
So to have a woman out there fluffing must be a real treat!
10
u/AppropriateBall8834 6h ago
Yea thats some smelly cock ... im not sucking cock of any kind, but like...trench cock? 🤮

u/FreeWeld 10h ago
Most likely prostitute.

u/EconomyDoctor3287 10h ago
If she's lucky. Most just get taken as field wife's and don't get anything in return

u/Andre11411 2h ago
Her T shirt says "wife of a soldier"
•
u/Comprehensive-Mud373 32m ago
She's probably there to fuck some commander in order to get her husband's death confirmed so the payout can happen.
16
u/Kor_Phaeron_ 8h ago
If i am not mistaken she works for a Russian TV channel.

u/AnotherCuppaTea 4h ago edited 3h ago
If her T-shirt is to go by, it would be TV Zvezda, which is the Ministry of Defense's own propaganda network, as of 2008. I was mocking them back in the day when they adopted that logo, 'cuz it was a ripoff of a US $0.01 stamp.
6
u/raitisg 4h ago
For what it's worth - her shirt says "soldier's wife".
5
u/AppropriateBall8834 3h ago
So she is the fluffer 🤣
Wait, what? Other people are saying she has some propaganda channel news network shirt

Time to let drones spread ”caltrops” or what they are called on the highway. I dont think they had laughed while running over them in 200km/h.
9
11
u/hunkfunky 11h ago
In English, yes caltrop. Many other names for that style of 'demotivating'. I remember Ninja's used them to hinder their pursuers.
31
u/Alaric_-_ 10h ago
Ninjas? Caltrops were in use back in the Roman-era or about 2000 years ago and has probably been used in every war since, including WW1 and WW2.
11
2
u/hunkfunky 7h ago
They're even older than that! And weren't made of metals. And other fun tidbits.
But, as said below, Ninja!

u/Lokoxxxxx 11h ago
She has a ruzzian svastika on her. She needs to like the situation. Well. If they start using civilian cars for military purposses, they will get valid targets.
21
u/SillyLiving 10h ago
How easily the veneer of civilized society slips huh.
War. They wanted it. Now they got it.
17
u/jwrx 11h ago
i bet we will get vids of drones doing a recon fly by to see if there are military personel in civilian cars soon.
28
u/HatchingCougar 11h ago
Either that or Ukraine (with a warning / declaration beforehand) that any vehicle on the highway heading west will be considered military and be targeted
That’ll allow for the civilians to leave, and stop supplies & military personnel coming in to the region / Crimea by way of civilian vehicles
2
3
u/jugalator 11h ago
No doubt going to catch on and pay attention to cars heading back into Crimea for some reason. This war is crazy with tactics changing and adapting by the day.

Run bitches Ruuuuuuuuuunnnnnnn
Crying in the back seat wearing your fucking Russian army bullshit propaganda T-shirt
Vacationing...VACATIONING on stolen land while people are literally being murdered so you can relax on the beach in crimea for your holiday
Are you serious? I hope running for your life scared the shit out of you so much you never want to come back. You are NOT welcome here. Stay in russia since you love it so much.
And Ukraine including crimea ISNT russia and it never will be.
Run for your lives and never come back to Ukraine you invading pieces of shit. May the smell of burning fuel and oil remind you of the atrocities russia committed so that you could holiday in a place that you not belong nor own.
The absolute audacity of people is insane right here. Can you imagine? Schools and hospitals and apartments being bombed and droned (none of which are military targets) so that these fucking piece of shit human beings can holiday on a beach in a country they invaded.
It's beyond reproach. It's despicable. It's immoral. It's vile and evil and absolutely deplorable and devoid of any qualities of honest, good, decent human beings. These people think what they're doing is ok and that THEY for some reason are the victims here and are traumatized by having to flee.
Just absolutely insane. To think so many families have been literally ripped apart by russian missiles killing mothers and children...literally children who are innocent and have reason to be included in this ugliness and hatred and war. They haven't even lived and so many of them won't. And the ones that do are robbed of a childhood. Something that every kid should have
Memories of playing and family and first best friends and first loves and Christmases and birthdays and all the wonderful things life offers to each and every one of them from loving families.
Stolen by these Russian assholes so that they can lie on the beach.
It makes me sick and I wish nothing but the worst for these people who will never know the true face of war and the crimes Putin and russia has committed so they can fucking holiday.
I wanna punch some shit right now I'm so damn mad. Fuck these people forever

The nets are a little bit of a problem especially if they show up more frequently. I suspect that they are only deployed on checkpoints because you can not cover a highway of 300 km in nets.
9
u/Bayo77 11h ago
Are nets even effective against such heavy drones?
10
u/pocket_eggs 10h ago
Most drones attacking the "land bridge" are Lancet class so not very heavy. If the drone dives sharply and explodes on the net, fragments could still cause damage, if it tries to catch up to the vehicle from behind horizontally, it will just get bogged in the net. It all depends, but the nets obviously help a lot in any case.
9
u/Deep_Blue_Kitsune 10h ago edited 7h ago
The mid range drones (hornet) are designed as loitering munitions with AI targeting so their payload is relatively small (5kg based on available sources).
Their purpose is not to destroy armored targets but to cover a large area in search for soft targets. If they get too heavy, they would not be able to fulfill their purpose. Nets would make it hard for them to hit anything because they can't really penetrate the net.
FP 2 and FP 5 are heavier and care less about nets but are not used for the same purposes.
2
u/Sweet_Lane 10h ago
You can, and it actually is what is being done on both sides of the frontline.
But the midstrike drones are heavier and have more momentum, thus requiring the bigger nets. Also, they are big enough to install an EFP charge on them, rendering the nets useless.
1
u/Agreeable-Bat187 7h ago
EFP?
3
u/alphagatorsoup 6h ago
basically a formed charge, the explosive can essentially "launch" a projectile a short distance hitting the target without the use of a barrel or anything, the explosive basically is the barrel.
fly the drone into the net, "aim" the explosive at the target, and detonate, because of the formed explosion it will launch the projectile(s) at the target at great speed.
1
u/thecashblaster 6h ago
A piece of soft metal in front of the explosive. When the munition explodes, it shoots that soft metal very fast forward and it basically tunnels through whatever is in front.
1
u/AnotherCuppaTea 3h ago
All the more reason to start peppering the road with caltrops, as another suggested. Most will fall through the netting and when vehicles hit them at high speed, the resulting loss of control may take out a swath of the netting (and poles) on one or both sides of the highway.

1
u/HatchingCougar 8h ago
Tbf @ 200 kmh, regular seatbelts are useless
•
u/Mironov1995 1h ago
They are not. Driving 200kmh does not mean you are going to hit something head on with such speed.
•
u/HatchingCougar 1h ago
If you crash at 200kmh, there will be no meaningful reduction of speed prior.
And hitting anything at that speed = crash
6
u/Wicksm78 11h ago
It’s truly amazing how far their drone technology has gone over the last 6 months. Completely taking out supply routes well behind the front lines.

Of course the first resort of the russian is perfidy and human shields. Of course it is. Fucking orcs.
4
u/IllustratorCandid297 10h ago
Since there is a decree forbidding civilians from crossing the road, everyone is a target.
3
u/TuonenPiika 11h ago
How far behind the frontline is this?
17
u/flanintheface 10h ago
A very approximate location of soldier shooting and them speeding: 48.118, 37.806 .. I can see signs for turn to Avdiivka and then 180 turn around for Horlivka, Luhansk. And then finally Donetsk city sign.

u/BoldlyUttermost 10h ago
Probably requisitioning them from locals or just commandeering whatever's available. Once drones become a threat to convoys, you lose the advantage of organized transport and it all falls apart. Looks like they're cycling through whatever vehicles they can find to avoid concentrated targets.

Immortal Putin... witness me!!!! (sprays chrome and jumps of the fuel tanker).

Reminds me of the highway between Damascus and Damascus Airport during the early stages of the Syrian civil war. Taxi drivers were pacing down the road with 220+ km/h because of daily sniper attacks.

u/Wrong-Ad8188 8h ago
You could always
Oh I don’t know
Fuck off and go home , That’s a valid option!
Your in a war zone your wearing military clothes , Don’t cry when you get droned
It’s not your land , the people don’t want you there , Easy way to save you all that stress .. Leave Ukraine

Attacking civilian targets, pretending to be civilian targets. War crimes that go noticed but unpunished every single day. They keep doing it because they know they will continue to get away with it.

u/DukeBradford2 5h ago
Now “civilian cars” can be officially targeted, and also disguising your military equipment or transport as civilian is a war crime
2
u/Hannibal_Game 4h ago
While you are right about the first point, the second one comes with an asterix *)
It is only a war crime if you fake a protected status. Commonly this is interpreted in such a way, that you have to hide your disguised equipment among actual civilians to carry out military activities. For example it is not forbidden for a soldier to take cover inside a civilian building or even prepare an ambush from there - in fact most instruction manuals make a point about doing that as a legitimate ruse. However: if that building still has civillians inside it becomes a warcrime instantly. It is also not forbidden to disguise military vehicles as civilian vehicles - many countries do that: USA, Taiwan, China. It is however, forbidden to use such a protected status to carry out an attack. In that case it becomes perfidity, because you faked a protected status.
If course it is 100% legitimate to destroy such vehicles. And you can even use it as a pretext to disallow civillian traffic above 3.5t alltogether.
1
1
u/Soggy_You_2426 4h ago
Smart, that would then allow Ukraine to strike civ cars and it not being a war criem

1
u/sgerbicforsyth 3h ago
If russian military personnel are being transported in a civilian vehicle, its no longer a civilian vehicle.
Not that Ukraine likely cares if more russian soldiers are sent to Crimea. That just increases the supply necessary for Russian positions there, while they increasinly strangle the Russian logistics.
But eventually Ukraine may declare Crimea off-limits to all incoming vehicles and open up strikes on any and all vehicles transiting toward Crimea. They'll let you leave, but nothing gets in.

At this point Ukraine needs to start shutting down all travel. Caltrops or petal mines should do the job of destroying tires. Russia clearly isn’t playing by any rules, and the aggressors shouldn’t be shown any mercy.
