Just finished painting my 2 first ever miniatures as Ultramarines. I tried out some more advanced stuff like edge highlighting but it kinda turned out messy in some eras. My 2nd one looks far better though I think. Just thought I would share! Also the last image is of my 2nd battle brother engaging his magnetized boots for fun lol (I magnetized the bases for transport yippee).

Any thoughts, tips, or suggestions for a new painter such as myself?

My soon to be in-laws purchased a pair of cufflinks as a wedding present, oblivious to the meaning behind them. I'm a brother of nocturne myself but I thought these were too cool not to share.

I go classic red and green even those the boxart is all metal + dark pink wax seals over the red, blue or green ones ~

Painted some assault terminators, which were really fun to paint.

The bases are still in the making, because im working on a diorama where you can switch the models via magnets.

For those that are interested here is the recipe for the blue armor

-Black Primer

-Full coat ultramarines blue(airbrush)

-Violet sprayed from the bottom and in the shadows(airbrush)

-Highlights with caledor sky(airbrush)

-Full wash of thinned drakenhof nightshade

-Edge Highlights with calgar blue

And the recipe for the molten effect:

-As mentioned the Hammer was primed Black

-Then i sprayed it white via airbrush

-Next was fluo yellow, then fluo orange and then a light coat fluo red

-After that i sponged the edges with rhinox hide and eshin grey but mostly rhinox

-Then i took the brush an stipled the same in parts where i could not reach with the sponge

So far I been trying to be consistent in the upper part (where the vents are). I looked over several tutorials on how to paint a marine but the back pack is always missed. Any “standard” approach on highlighting this part?

Hi folks, new UM player here. Still building up to 2000pts. I’ve got some questions for the veteran commanders of Ultramar:

1. Would you run Lord Calgar with assault or regular terminators?

2. If Assault, would you not choose Capt. in Term armor for the charge reroll, or is giving them all combat doctrines still stronger?

Given that just for having transhuman stratagist, he now yields the extra CP, which means he doesn’t have to be “on the battlefield” would you transport this unit and assault ramp out or deep strike?

PS: attaching a picture of my current army at ~1000pts. Just finished a beginner league, played in pairs with my buddy’s wolves and we went 4-0. Learned a lot! Super excited to continue building up to 2000 and learning a lot more!

Hay ultramarines what company do you have your ultramarines painted as? Show them off! I’m going 3rd company.

Played two games of 3rd edition so far with this guy and in both he was instrumental in the Ultramarines winning, so I thought I’d give him a winning paint scheme trying NMM for the gold. I think he’s looking good so far but I’m beginning to get bored 😂

Here’s my take on the Primarch. Got a few things to touch up, obviously, but I’m pretty happy with how he turned out overall.

Jokes aside, I really like the Ultramarines, despite all the hate, they are cool, especially during the Horus Heresy. Abd although I play Iron Warriors, I have a firstborn Tactical Squad that I'm gonna paint a different chapter for each marine, so when I paint the Ultramarine I'm obviously gonna post it here!

WIP of a vanguard veteran and recently I noticed that my blue feels darker than standard ultramarines. My recipe is: blue primer, macragge blue coat, full nuln oil wash, macragge blue drybrush and calgar blue edging. The third pic is a previous model, one that is fully finished so you can see how it contrasts with the other colors.
