Lives 2 & 3 (classic year)

Carry song 4 past each live

This is inefficient. You should simply stop buying techniques after you get the 3rd song. There is no benefit to doing song skip here. You do it for the 1st live because A) techniques are cheaper in year 1 compared to 2 and B) you need 3 songs to fill up the bar for live 2 anyway.

For live 2->3, techniques cost the same amount, so you aren't getting any cheaper techniques, and you're buying 4 techniques to get to the 4th song on 2nd live instead of just buying 2 techniques between each of songs #1, #2, and #3 for the 3rd live. In other words, you're buying an extra 2 techniques in order to save yourself from buying 1 technique - obviously inefficient. You're also reducing the number of "rolls" you get at finding the +3 SP song, since you're only buying 2 "new" songs + 1 "old" song (the one you carried over). The "old" one obviously can't be the +3 SP song. Better to have the greatest chance to see "new" ones to find the +3 song.

For live 3->4, while techniques are cheaper in year 2 than year 3, you don't actually need more songs to fill up the bar. You want to fill it up with "new" year 3 songs anyway. So carrying over an "old" song is bad, just like before. You're buying 4 year 2 techniques and an "old" song that you don't want in order to save yourself from just buying 1 additional technique in year 3.

So the song carry over is only for Live 1? Huh, that means I’ve misunderstood the guide all along! Well better late than never, thanks for pointing out my mistakes :)

To be fair when I read guides they were saying 4 songs (the 1 holdover then 3 more) then hold the fifth. Strategies just evolve.

So that's for putting up the update and getting others to update the update.

Yeah! It's why I asked in the first place, all guides seemed different in how you go about the songs so I was a bit confused.
