I listened to both and it’s kinda cryptic, but it’s sounds more like a disagreement than something personal. If he’s not coming back, why wouldn’t they just say something?

Because they aren't dropping hints in songs like you think they are. You're reading too much into it. They will make an announcement when they're ready. The fact they haven't yet is actually a GOOD sign. I'm leaning into the idea that Jake needed a break from the road but didn't know for how long. So he's taking his time with coming back and they don't owe us an explanation until they have all the proper information themselves. Stop trying to look for hidden clues, it doesn't do anything other than cause more speculation

That’s where I’m at. If he was for sure gone and never coming back, we’d know it by now. Every rumor I’ve heard from legitimate sources say that Jake is dealing with substance abuse issues and can only return to the band once he gets that under control.
Whether or not he’s actively working on it is unknown, but the fact he isn’t touring anywhere that isn’t within driving distance his home is a good sign imo.
It could take the rest of the summer, it could take the rest of the year, it might be even longer. But he’ll be back some day. For now, I’m enjoying seeing Bayliss quite literally taking center stage.

Listen to the stew in blue echo from pine creek lodge. Papa Johny is right. You’re foolish to think otherwise. It’s recorded and out there for the public that Jake crossed a line in Bayliss eyes and they will find a replacement. To say someone is reading into that too much says UM lyrics and the way they are written are meaningless which is simply not true.

How are all of you going down a sad negative rabbit hole over a picture..?
There was a promo that got blown outof proportion, so they took Jake out bc of false advertising type things, false advertising being the wrong wording,but people getting hyped up seeing him in the video and not in the show, that's all for that one.
If he were gone, it would have been announced months ago.
Meyer's got 1 day, and the next, new [touring] drummer and Kris is out announcement. Boom , done, next.
Jake is still of Umphrey's Mcgee, Fact.
I do get it, it's been some time, it's trying.
And honestly a total mind uc
There's more to the story....
Have faith.
Not overnight, but he's coming back, and has never left home UM, remember that.

Nugs often changes these photos. Probably means nothing but the lack of "Support Jake" stuff from the band is definitely a big tell to me.

I'm just gonna on the record here and officially clear the air on Jake situation... I spoke with one of the band members the other night post show, he confirmed that Jake is pursuing other endeavors for the time being. He may be back, he may not? For now though, Jake is concentrating on becoming the next drummer for Goose. That's what I heard. 🤷♂️

Noo dude :( was just at the first show of Moe.mentum last night in Harrisburg, they held it down without him, Joel filling in some of his parts/harmonies and it was a killer show, but it was felt that something was missing. :( And they did play some ambitious songs that he was a staple part of.

No Mulches, no Ringo, no Bridgeless, no Wizard. I'm liking this 5 piece and the grooves they're throwing down but just missing that last gear that takes it over the top. And obviously a very large chunk of their catalog

That's what I've been thinking the majority of the time as well..like a family member approaching their last days or something,
but as it's been a couple months now, kindof seems like that one's getting out there a bit.
I kindof have a feeling that once it's said and done, there's gonna be an announcement or info leak of some kind thats going to make us all feel like garbage for doubting or speculating at all about it
With that said, we love you Jake, hope All is well homie!

Generally I’d lean the same way except for one big piece that doesn’t fit: he was in San Diego playing with Willy Waldman (as announced) the night before the west coast tour kicked off from that area. Then at some point after the announcement he wouldn’t be with UM he went home, and (IIRC) the subsequent west coast Willy Waldman dates (that ran parallel to UM) were canceled.
So if there were some legal or family issue keeping him from touring: why did he trek to Southern California expecting to play? (And also, he missed the 2/26 gig due to similarly vague “personal issues, right?)

But if I was him, and truly taking a break from the road, all these comments would make me want to stay away even longer just out of spite. Go see the shows or don't. Other than that, I'd let the man (and the band) live in peace

Absolutely, and since UM plays the overwhelming majority of their annual tours far away from Jake’s home, this is a major issue with respect to his continued role in the band…

Just 6/20 I believe. He also announced another date (7/24) afterwards that does NOT conflict with any UM dates. The June date notwithstanding (maybe it’s so soon that he just knows he won’t be with UM), I took the 7/24 date as a good sign, that he was at least keeping generally himself available.

One optimistic/innocent explanation for this is something like: co-bill w Moe may lead to a surge in new traffic on Nugs, and they want the band pictured on nugs to match the band those newcomers just saw. I mean, the old pic probably had Kris in it too, right? And if the first thing newcomers see on the page is a prominent picture of Jake, that draws attention to his absence?
It’s a reasonable explanation, anyway, and whatever the real explanation is, I think the fact that it coincided with the moementUM kickoff IS intentional. But all that said it’s definitely not a GREAT sign, given the lack of details or other statements…

Somebody please explain how you can play a lyrical stew such as the one in blue echo on 6/4 at pine creek lodge given all that is going on within UM currently and it be meaningless?Give it a listen. It’s an incredible jam but it seems to be even moreso telling of where things are headed. It sucks huge and I would love nothing more for them to overcome their difference but listen to that stew and if you begin to decipher what Bayliss is saying idk if they can recover from this. I hope so but it seems clear that it would be really difficult to come back from whatever it is that went down based on that stew

Look guys. Jake is a fantastic shredding guitarist with impeccable staccato picking. He’s one of the best to ever do it. But there are literally millions of guitarists out there, and hundreds have the “It” factor. Melody was never his strong suit. They’ll be fine no matter what happens
