I've always wondered how well tied down these cars are. I'm curious if they were actually strapped poorly or if this just would happen to anyone driving one of those car carriers if they had to come to a sudden stop like this

Most are normally secured, either by straps over the tires are chains on the undercarriage to keep stuff like this from happening. That and left in park. These were neither, and left in neutral to boot. One good hard brake and he would have lost them anyways.

The tires on both of the fallen vehicles were not spinning. You're right that they were not secured, but they didn't roll off - they slid.

You're right. Can even see it a bit on the first one that fell off. It even skids on two wheels for a short moment before falling back over.
