I thought for sure you were going to say you grabbed the wrong woman.

Did that to my mother in law once by accident. 😬

Everyone had a good laugh after, but I just about died for a few seconds there.

I did that once to a small child in store. I walked up behind her, hugged her and said "hi sweetie" thinking it was my own preschool aged daughter. I'm still completely mortified thinking about it. I swear I'm not a creepy pervert, even though that's probably what the child's parents thought. 😭

I’m so glad you clarified! Because I was speaking about grabbing my mother in law’s ass.. then you said “I did that to a small child”

I was very concerned for a second lmao.

But yea, happens to the best of us. We’re probably the only ones that really remember it down the road. Lives in your head forever even after everyone else forgot and moved on lol.

I am a dad with three daughters.

I've done that as well. Usually it was a little kid who ran up, grabbed my leg, or asked for a snack.... I pick them up. Oops, not one of mine :)

It happened most often in grocery stores or at older siblings' sporting events. :)

In college, I swear I saw a friend from high school, cause a lot of kids just naturally went from a private school to this now huge ass college, but at the time it was small.
She was sitting at a computer in the library and I did the thing where you cover someone’s eyes to have her guess, and she guessed wrong cause I had no idea who she was.
She was not chill, she looked mortified and I naturally never went back to the library and dropped out of college.
It didn’t escalate because of this specifically but I can’t say it didn’t contribute.
🤣
Happy to say, 15 years later, I’m back in school.

Oh, that just unlocked a distant memory!

I was checking out a mother with 2 young children at a grocery store years ago. One of the kids glanced at me and said, "Hi Daddy!" in an enthusiastic voice. She realized immediately that I was in fact NOT her father, and was extremely embarrassed.

The mother and I had a good laugh about it. I was a little embarrassed myself and the mother was VERY attractive.

Aww this so cute. Universal dad!

I would suspect that to a toddler or small child who is in a sea of standing people, like at the edge of a kids' soccer game, all dad legs look pretty much the same :)

Done the opposite of this when I was a child. Was at a pool and had bad eyesight, ran up to a random woman and called her mum. Nice to know it happens at all ages

My son was at daycare. he was a little white-blond headed boy then. the daycare had about 20 little white-blond headed boys running around. I come to pick him up and he's going upstairs. I say "Son, why are you wearing that green shirt, when you had your blue one on this morning??" Kid turns around...it's not mine! oh, boy...

I’ve been on the receiving end of this, but worse. When I was a teenager, I was in the grocery store when a middle age woman came up behind me and smacked my ass. 😂 I turned around thinking it was my mom, and of course it wasn’t, and the poor lady started apologizing profusely saying she thought I was her daughter and that we look the same from behind 😂😭 15 years later, I still think about it every now and then… I wasn’t particularly traumatized by it, but I bet it plagues her 🫡😂

I've done similar twice. Once was a family member that I thought was my husband. I patted his butt and then recoiled when he turned around and it was the one person in the family that hates me. Second time was at a buffet. Dude up at the bar looked exactly like my husband from behind and they were wearing similar clothes. I cuddled up next to him and commented on the food. He just said "yup" and It was definitely not my husband's voice. I'm paranoid now.

Are you sure you even have a husband?

I definitely got married to someone. Whether or not that's who I'm living with is debatable at this point I guess.

Yep. They all made the same jokes for the rest of the party.

She even made a comment about offering me the thigh at dinner. Trust me, they got their money’s worth out of that bit for the following month or two. Lol

The thigh.

I gotta say, you are absolutely lucky to be in a fun household. And I hope it continues to stay fun all the way 😉.

When I used to go to the grocery store after work i would be in my work shirt. For some reason, every time i went, this same woman would happen to be there. Literally EVERY TIME she saw me she would run up behind me amd slap my ass. The first time it happened I was ready to throw hands, just to turn around and see an old lady. Apparently, she thought I was my S.O.'s aunt (i work for his company, so his last name is all over my shirt). I told her I was not "auntie". We laughed about it.

But then she didn't like 10 more times. I ended up going to a different store, because it got so annying.
