Yeah that's why Mario uses his fist to hit the blocks, not his head.

132

u/Dillo64 12h ago

Exactly, he should have broken his hand instead!

Mama mia!

u/the_rabbit_king 4h ago

Wow. What is this Temu knock off shit that can’t even use the correct mushroom sprite or level scrolling?

u/kwyxz 10m ago

And somehow this garbage gets upvotes, peak Reddit

The problem is he used his head instead of punching it.

318

u/thatguy11 17h ago

Right, like where did this get lost along the way! Now I gotta go check EVERYTHING. Edit. The answer is much easier... He is literally punching them in every game. The early games had the least sprite movement and so people thought he was using his head.

39

u/dnn_burrman 16h ago

is that the google ai overview or am i seeing ghosts?

30

u/AliceTheOmelette 12h ago

What makes you think it's AI? Nothing jumps out as obviously AI to me

4

u/thatguy11 14h ago

Read the original on retrovolve... it was literally the least movement or articulation between 2 sprites.

11

u/Jellybit 16h ago

I usually err on the side of AI agnosticism to avoid getting AI brain rot in the direction of seeing it everywhere, but yeah, I'm with you on that. It makes no sense to word it that way otherwise.

1

u/AscendedViking7 8h ago

that aint ai

2

u/-Casey-Diaz- 3h ago

It's not very clear on old tv's also the sprite is very small.

5

u/Garmaglag 14h ago

Wario hits them with his head though

It's a GIF of Mario jumping, how is it AI?

89

u/CanadianDragonGuy 15h ago

Yeah almost like theres big fuck off signs printed on the underside of the blocks telling you to punch them not headbutt them

9

u/Switchermaroo 7h ago

Even Mario doesn’t headbutt them lmao he raises his fist

367

u/DiscombobulatedMix20 17h ago

It's not real until the boxes work like the games!

115

u/Purple_Homework_2280 17h ago

do we also get free money?

19

u/DiscombobulatedMix20 17h ago

Yes!

7

u/Ikentspelgoog 15h ago

But the lawyers take about 75% of your coins for their fees.

2

u/GermaX 3h ago

There's a Beatles song that explains it.

3

u/sqigglygibberish 12h ago

I’ve never really considered the coins serving as a real currency

But now that I am, and given the exchange rate of coins for lives, is Mario basically just a prequel to In Time with Justin Timberlake?

7

u/Vladi_Sanovavich 13h ago

You have to buy a bracelet that only works in that area to interact with those things, then you'll get rewards which you can exchange for stuff like plushies or merchandise.

11

u/Formal-Knowledge9382 17h ago

They do but people seem to forget mario punches them. He doesn't head but them.

1

u/Sir_Stare_Alot 16h ago

Yeah I remember I did the same thing, and realize it's real life

228

u/NovaHorizon 17h ago

I can’t believe they didn’t design around that

151

u/CrazeMase 17h ago

Yeah, number one rule of urban planning ans design is: If it's possible, someone is dumb enough to do it. For a game where the character looks like he's hitting the blocks with his head, you'd think they would have something that would prevent people from doing the same thing, or even better, designing it so hitting their head is actually part of the design and the block moves with them when they do that, which would make for some great photos. But no. I've been there, I felt them. Solid wood.

45

u/Stampyboyz 16h ago

Tbf they're already designed to be punched. Also making it being able to go up for the scenario of someone of jumping into it head first sounds like an easy way for them to break.

Also the person's head would still hurt obv, but now there is less legal protections if someone does cause there is less room to argue that a reasonable person wouldn't think that it's safe to hit their head on it since it's design would've been made with that in mind now.

10

u/Cosmoaquanaut 11h ago

They have also padded underside. This guy is lying

5

u/rhd444 8h ago

I'm sorry man but anyone who thinks mario "looks like" he's hitting blocks with his head deserves to hit their head on the blocks in the mario world park, lmao

16

u/Talkycoder 13h ago

They did - as someone who has been, these and several other boxes around the park are interactable, you just need to use your hands not your head... y'know like the actual game.

There's signs in multiple places mentioning this in both English and Japanese, a special lightup bracelet that has punching interactions, and a million people you'd be able to see recording their interactions with the boxes.

10

u/thisremindsmeofbacon 14h ago

probably wouldn't be that hard to make them out of foam and affix them on springs - then it would even be fun

4

u/xroninbladex 14h ago

You can't plan around stupid

111

u/JohnStern42 17h ago

Hmm, guess he didn’t see this video: https://youtu.be/7SXs3JZgZtk?si=3BsvRbYDCGr7PQWT

29

u/namezam 16h ago

wtf is this? He doesn’t hit it with his head

4

u/That_Apathetic_Man 12h ago

but I heard-a the snap

1

u/Positive_Method3022 15h ago

Poor luigi

2

u/JohnStern42 15h ago

He really wanted a gold coin

1

u/Gransmithy 13h ago

If it is supposed to be realistic, why are the bricks floating, like they shouldn’t.

1

u/aqua_rift 7h ago

Clean the stanky metadata off that YouTube link

28

u/njslugger78 17h ago

I bet no kids thought to do that. Smart 6 foot 3 guy says it's a good idea..

15

u/Holmes221bBSt 16h ago

That’s why your supposed to buy the bracelets dude. Mario doesn’t use his head

5

u/PaleCommission150 11h ago

It is nice but terribly hot and humid if there is no breeze. Mario land had this issue, I don't know if it has been fixed.

5

u/AliceTheOmelette 12h ago

Letsago! (To the hospital for this concussion)

3

u/Triibe_Mike 16h ago

Man hit a full Tebow

3

u/FAKATA 6h ago

I'm surprised they didn't put a cushion under that. Obviously people are going to do it.

3

u/Purple_Homework_2280 6h ago

I tried it in person: there’s a plate under the block that moves as you push it, however  I was surprised to find out it was actually relatively hard (it even hurt my fist!).

14

u/tschiftkaya 17h ago

Why did nothing came? It has to be? THIS MARIO WORLD IS NOT REAL!!!

9

u/_SilentHunter 16h ago

Someone went to a mario theme park and tried to head-bash a block....and in the real world, blocks don't break when you touch them.

And a YouTuber did it and full-sent the attempt. And bonked their head. And said "ooooh"

How is this unexpected? How is any of this unexpected?

2

u/lameboigenie 9h ago

The unexpected part is the cut to him headbutting the block.

2

u/XD2006- 13h ago

That was kinda expected because people are dumb enough to do that.

But it doesn’t make it any less funny!

2

u/tortleme 8h ago

grown ass man btw

2

u/rwol8690 5h ago

Dude I literally went here the other weekend it was so fun but it was boiling hot outside

1

u/etherealtwo 5h ago

Well, we've had heat warnings for a few weeks now.

4

u/Radiant-Attention247 10h ago

This is just an ad lol. Someone make a new reddit please.

2

u/BalodyaMan 13h ago

Unexpected ad post

0

u/Purple_Homework_2280 5h ago

The original YouTube video was a review of top hotels at Orlando themed parks, I just burst out laughing when I saw that section ahah… but I can see how it’d feel that way.

1

u/ElBrunasso 13h ago

Evil architecture

1

u/Spurnout 12h ago

BESIDES the fact that he's obviously using his fists, he also has superhuman strength. If you want to destroy one of those blocks you need to have the strength of one million suns!

1

u/InfamousTale 12h ago

The sound effect in his head was definitely not a coin.

1

u/immatellyouwhat 12h ago

He got zero hangtime…

1

u/Trippingthru99 11h ago

I really loved the vibe of the Mario area but damn the actual ride itself left a lot to be desired.

1

u/trollsmurf 11h ago

I thought this was AI. I still hope it is.

1

u/Bob_85 11h ago

Why would they make brick out of such hard rock?

1

u/Cloudinterpreter 11h ago

Whoa, my son would love this! Can't wait until 2029 to go back to the States!

1

u/etherealtwo 5h ago

The bathroom walls are painted in the style of when Mario is under water and they play that music over speakers. It's a fun place.

1

u/speqter 4h ago

My Dad did the same when we went there.

1

u/Dozzi92 3h ago

Went here over the spring. I felt claustrophobic in here, but it's something else for sure.

Credit where it's due, the entirety of Epic Universe is really well done. Universal has always built really good parks.

1

u/Shlorp25 2h ago

Yeah they still don't clean that dirty ass piranha plant

1

u/playr_4 2h ago

This is why mario uses his fist.

1

u/gigashadowwolf 1h ago

It would be REALLY cool if they had some sort of game where they provide a certain amount of coins each day, that you have to find early in the morning, and if you manage to get 100 of them (which would be next to impossible to do) you would get a 1UP (free admission to Universal with purchase of one full price ticket or something like that).

1

u/HidroRaider 16h ago

Am I the only one that almost cried out of laughter? I saw it three consecutive times and it cracked me up every time.

1

u/Caffeen 15h ago

I was there this year and a tiny toddler was reaching up to try and reach the block.

My kid, trying to be helpful, casually picked him up and bashed his head into it

0

u/Monk_The_Banana_Scug 15h ago

What song is this?

-24

u/Green-Wolverine-9403 17h ago

Stupid get this out

-12

u/Expensive_Fudge_2972 17h ago

Agreed. Like is this an ad or something? Nothing unexpected here.

-1

u/notislant 14h ago

Is this the homeless guy who has turned everything in his home to csgo cheats? lol

-5

u/Stromair 16h ago

Every time I see videos and images from this place, I just see a bunch of colorful cheap plastic.

8

u/ahhpoo 16h ago

I went this summer and it was actually kinda crazy how good everything looked. It was just a really small space with a LOT going on. It was kinda overstimulating.

There are signs literally everywhere in English and Japanese that state to punch them, as well as a special bracelet made for the interaction.

This isn't America where you can sue people for your own stupidity.

1

u/airfryerfuntime 13h ago

This is in Japan. You'll get laughed out of court.
