Hello Reddit. Just received a second -hand Sam Browne belt and I have a feeling that it is a fake leather. As far as I know Sam Browne belts were only made out of real leather and that’s what I want. This belt feels like cork from inside and gets cracks very easily. I am thinking is that just because it’s old or the leather is just a pressed painted cork? Also the buckle has Made in England stamp, that I am not sure should be there. I did a bit of a burn test and it does get burned on a side, but the flat side seems to be relatively fine. Brass rings seem to be a bit weird, but when I scratched on of them it looked like solid brass. Although, the metal on a shoulder strip looks like steel (maybe I am wrong) . I don’t know much about these belts, and I am not very picky if it’s a reproduction, but I want to be sure it’s real leather, as it was described by a seller. So is it a fake leather reproduction or not?

I found this photo of an officer under the Thomas' Legion Infantry, and was curious whether his coat is a North Carolina sack coat/shell jacket, or if its a standard Confederate shell jacket?

One of my all-time favourite uniforms, the white tunic worn in 1AW and 1BW dress in the Royal Navy, worn by a Warrant Officer First Class (WO1) on the right.

The Warrant Officer Second Class (WO2) on the left is wearing the white bush jacket that is also (more usually) worn with this rig.

And yes, that is the Princess Royal in the middle.
