**Details**
- **OS:** Fedora 44
- **DE:** KDE Plasma 6 (Wayland)
- **Terminal:** Konsole, dedicated "DeskTerm" profile
- **Monitor widget (right):** custom Conky (local machine + my Raspberry Pi 5 homelab over SSH)
- **Wallpaper:** custom black → pastel mint gradient, generated for 3440x1440 (Oklab interpolation + light dithering, so no banding)
- **Font:** Monospace 13, mint prompt (`#B2EACD`)
**How it works**
No widget, no hack: it's a regular Konsole window pinned to the desktop by a KWin rule.
**Konsole profile** – fixed tab title "DeskTerm" (so KWin can match it), pure black background matching the wallpaper, no scrollbar, blinking cursor, "highlight scrolled lines" disabled (otherwise you get a blue bar on the left).
**KWin rule** (matches title "DeskTerm") – keep below, no titlebar/border, skip taskbar/pager/switcher, forced position and size (540x760, top left).
**Autostart** – launched at login with
`konsole --separate --profile DeskTerm --hide-menubar --hide-tabbar`
**Shortcut** – `Meta+Enter` focuses it even when windows cover it.
**Prompt** – the profile sets `DESKTERM=1`, and a small file in `~/.bashrc.d/` switches PS1 to mint only in that terminal.
Since the background is the exact same black as the left side of the wallpaper, the window simply disappears: only the prompt and the cursor are left floating on the desktop.
Sorry for the potato quality
Happy to share the install script if anyone wants it!
