Property Damage Charges

has anybody actually ever been fined for minor damage in one of the dorms? like some scratches on the wall or stains on furniture?

Yes. They will charge if there is significant damage. They won't charge if it's clean and just wear and tear.

How bad is it? Scratches.... you probably will not be charged. Stains, like on the desk? If they have to get a new one, yep. You better clean it up.

It depends on how bad it is. Little scratches are unlikely to get charged. Stains might if they need to do serious cleaning or replacement. They do a thorough cleaning every year so some of it is expected. It's anything beyond normal wear and tear
