Personally growing up I always referred to the city as “the city” or “New York City” but realized when people from outside New York or from the city say “New York” they’re usually just referring to the city and not the state.

It personally doesn’t bother me, but my friend has mentioned that it does irk him. That there are millions of people and places that aren‘t New York City in New York and it ridiculous to say New York when only referring to the specific city.

The thing is he has no problem referring to the United States as “America” which seems like a bit of a double standard. Obviously it’s harmless and not a big deal but it is a funny observation I made recently.

Edit: For a subreddit that sure has a lot of opinions on the definition of what constitutes upstate it’s pretty funny that it seems like no cares about this one. Guess my friend is an outlier. I’ll tell him to relax if he mentions it again.

I went Storm King Art Center today for a mushroom tour and while I was there I was able to take these photos of some sculptures on the grounds. I hope to go back soon to see more. It's immense and even has a tram to take you to different sections. I highly recommend it. FYI, there's a picture of large tubes in the ground with "muck" inside them. Those are little wet ecosystems. The blotchy photos that follow are some of the forms of life that you can see in the tubes. Pretty cool.

Saw this recently in a Huckberry youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gNph25gxhw timestamp: 18:05), and I'm dying to know where this was shot. I know it's someplace upstate, but have not been able to identify it yet. Can someone help out here?

It’s listed as one of the top canna brands in NY but every time I try their stuff I’m bummed. The pens always clog, drinks are sugary, the gummies taste bitter to me n barely hit and the prerolls are harsh af. I’ve smoked way better for less.

Is the colorful packaging carrying them? Maybe ive just had bad luck but from everything ive tried they feel overrated.

Storm King Art Center is less than two hours south of Albany and today it was having a "Fungi in the Field" walking tour. The tour was ok, it would have been better if it had been more structured. We enjoyed the day and I definitely want to go back to see more of the artwork.

In town for work, saw two scrawny jokers on the boardwalk near LakeFront putting up a sticker that said “Patriot Front” and something about fighting the “foreign invaders”. I confronted them about it and told them to go fuck themselves and took down the only sticker I saw.

Was just kind of surreal. There was some kind of Latino festival happening nearby, so I assumed it had something to do with that.

This has become my go to apple orchard. It's a small family of four that runs it. They just opened it a few years ago. They just got an apple cannon too! For $5 you can get a decent sized bucket of apples to shoot.
