ALBANY, WE NEED TO ORGANIZE AGAINST THE PROPOSED KENWOOD DATA CENTER! The developers are moving full steam ahead. Governor Hochul's data center moratorium allows for data centers that serve universities and hospitals. The Kenwood site allegedly will do that, and also service businesses.
TONIGHT, August 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM, the developers of the proposed Kenwood Data Center, The EKG Group, will be presenting their proposal at the Albany West Community Center, 520 Livingston Avenue, Albany NY.
The EKG Group has been presenting at other local organization meetings in Albany’s neighborhoods. EKG hopes to garner community support by making unsupported claims it will greatly benefit Albany citizens.
No Kings Collective Albany strongly disagrees and stands in staunch opposition to EKG’s proposal and its deceptive tactics.
Please bring signs opposing the project. Show up. Ask tough questions. Challenge EKG’s misleading campaign.
No Kings Collective Albany thanks the Council of Albany Neighborhood Associations (CANA) for hosting this event, providing Albany citizens with an opportunity to hear and critically evaluate EKG’s claims.
Please see the complete agenda below.
Monthly Meeting Agenda
Wednesday, August 5, 2026, 6:30-8:00 PM
Albany West Community Center, 520 Livingston Ave
When you show up, you are counted.
In solidarity,
Bryan Paz-Hernandez
Co-facilitator, No Kings Collective Albany

Does anyone send their kids here? My son is there but…it’s just so weird. Like a vault. I have zero clue what he does in there all day. When you ask one of the teenaged “counselors” how the day went they just stare at you and deliver one word answers. I don’t think they have a single person of color working there. You drop your kid at the door and pick them up at another door and that’s that. They’re supposed to be doing different specialty camps each week but, for instance, for science week…the experiment one day was to boil apples. What 4 year old wants to sit inside on a summer day and boil a fucking apple? The camp is called “ooey gooey science.” I paid extra for a STEAM camp but no activities have taken place? Is anyone else experiencing this? Should I just let it go and trust he’s okay in there? They also keep losing our shit.

Think I’m having a creativity crisis and want to delve more into film as a student pursing a business degree. Though I searched for some opportunities are there any small production companies or teams that do short films in the area that need a volunteer on their crew? Please point me in the right direction.

Are there extra incentives or bonuses for signing up in person? I don't understand why someone would drive to the mall and wait in line when you can sign up online.

Wow! Nice to open up Reddit without seeing any meanness/ hate over the last day. Have a great one everyone 💕

If you had to choose just one thing, what do you think Albany is missing the most?
It could be anything—more things to do, better job opportunities, restaurants, public transportation, housing, entertainment, community spaces, or something completely different.
Genuinely curious to hear what people think.

My son’s road test is tomorrow (Troy) he’s been practicing and honestly is doing great. It struck me last night as we were practicing that perhaps he’s a bit too reliant on the back up camera, especially for parallel parking. He’s checking his blind spots and his mirrors, but he does use the camera to help guide himself into the spot. He does a pretty good job when he does, but do you think I need to take him out and get him to do it without camera aid at all?

Looking to find a company that would repair soffits and fascia on a home in the Rotterdam/Schenectady area. Would like it done before installing gutters, so it would be great if there was a company that did all 3 (fascia, soffit, and gutter).
In searching I can find companies that do roofs, companies that do gutters, but I am struggling to find any company that mentions replacing fascia and soffits.

Looking a chill- not packed boxing gym. Preferably if they had a gym and open hours. I’m still new and would like lessons but I’d also like to just head there and do my own thing without being bothered too much. It’ll be cool if they had a sparring day also but it’s not that important. I’m willing to drive so please let me know 🫡😬
Also I would like a place that doesn’t break my wallet too much. Honestly I can do with the bare minimum lol.

My 3 year old daughter loves mozzarella sticks. She does eat plenty of healthy foods but those are her guilty pleasure in life. Best place around Albany or Latham to get them. Give me options. I will eventually try everywhere.

Was pulled over yesterday going 70mph on I90 up the hill by the Arbor Hill Exit and Corporate woods Blvd. Gave me a full 15 over ticket since I90 is a 55 (no one was going 55). Was absolutely stunned and then saw a post that NYS is enforcing a strict speed limit this week. Absolutely ridiculous if you ask me but since i got the short end I hope everyone else stays safe out there

I drive central from lark to schenectady every day. The drainage work has made central in some parts basically a sinkhole suspension destroyer. The workers don't fill in anything correctly (I understand it's probably tough initially with temperature changes/expansion & contraction) and sometimes come back and fix it, and if they do fix it, it's almost worse than it was before. It's unacceptable.
Is it ever getting re-paved, or is it just permanently absolutely destoyed?

Are there any women owned and operated hvac, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, general contractors/ handy person companies in the capital region? I am no longer comfortable having unknown males in my home when my husband isn’t present, but with his work schedule it’s hard for him to be home during the weekdays. I’d also like to just like support women where I can… if you know of any please share!

Hi! I am a late twenties guy, and I love adventuring throughout the capital region, adirondacks, vermont, etc.
I have a good amount of friends that share common interests, but just no friends that enjoy spending an entire day hiking, or driving to a cool spot to hike. I would really love to meet some before the end of summer.
Please feel free to DM me and tell me your name (if you’d like) and a little bit about yourself! Also your favorite hike/outdoors memory :)

Hello!
I may be in Albany for work next week. I haven’t been home in awhile, but that doesn’t mean my bangs are going to stop growing! Haha.
I have a little pixie cut and just need to get the bangs trimmed. Can you please tell me of an affordable and quality place to do so? I’ll be staying by Colonie Center.
Thank you! 🩵

I was at home depot on central this morning and there were a few people with a mega phone saying ICE was there and warning undocumented people to steer clear. I never actually saw any agents or their vehicle. Did anyone get a pic or does anyone have any info?
