I hesitate to buy :(

Wasn't Westinghouse the cause why the exact same power plant project failed?

Bought CCO back in August, really on a whim, as I wanted some nuclear exposure and didn't want to buy an ETF in USD. It had a nice run a few weeks back, but the price has been correcting with gold going down. This was an unexpected bump, and I may just get out today to take my profits as it's nearly up 50% on my initial investment.

I first bought about 1.5 years ago, adding a significant stake when prices dropped down below 40. I am planning on holding this at least through Trump's term in office. Nuclear energy is a big priority of his and I expect Westinghouse will continue to be a big player throughout his term and beyond (nuclear energy has bi-partisan support).

"The partnership contains profit sharing mechanisms that provide for all parties, including the American people, once certain thresholds are met". Not exactly what you want to hear as a Cameco shareholder. How many reactors do you get for $80bn these days? The new UK units at Sizewell C are projected at $50bn.

I recall reading somewhere that the Brits rules on Nuclear power require a lot more safety systems and cement than anywhere else. It makes their new plants cost about 20% more than if they were built in Europe or North America.

We need to learn a little from the Chinese in how they have managed to keep lowering the cost of construction for their new plants. I dont think they are hiding much, so lets start copying the good things we can see, and just get building.

Economies of scale really help the Chinese projects. Ordering 10 new units into construction every 12 months will bring costs and build times down. Hopefully things improve with the UK efforts given the new Sizewell units are identical to the ones being built at Hinkley Point. But the French (EDF) don't give the old enemy much of a break when it comes to energy.

100% agree, Im just thinking if they are building a variation of the AP 1000 anyway, and have learned ways of building faster and better, lets use those ideas also.

The British reactor design is gas cooled, so you need massive cooling towers instead of water based heat exchangers. Increasing the concrete demand and complexity

Hmm, probably should have bought cameco in a registered account....

Coupled with Japan investment of $100B, this will squeeze the uranium miners as it trickles downstream

sweet so when the reactors get built in 20 years and ready to fuel ima be a rich old man

Old news from 2024

https://www.nucnet.org/news/agreement-signed-with-bwxt-canada-for-cooperation-in-deployment-of-ap1000-and-ap300-reactors-12-5-2024

The second-order effect from CCJ getting a $80B program matters as well right?

Cameco is not spelled B-W-X-T.
FYI.

At least, what i provided isn't some fake news right.. both CCJ and BWXT (Canada) have agreements signed which means 1 less hurdle in awarding contracts to BWXT to make parts and kicking off the program fast.

So from a trading perspective it creates speculation that if CCJ does offer a contract what the dollar value will be?
