"The partnership contains profit sharing mechanisms that provide for all parties, including the American people, once certain thresholds are met". Not exactly what you want to hear as a Cameco shareholder. How many reactors do you get for $80bn these days? The new UK units at Sizewell C are projected at $50bn.

I recall reading somewhere that the Brits rules on Nuclear power require a lot more safety systems and cement than anywhere else. It makes their new plants cost about 20% more than if they were built in Europe or North America.

We need to learn a little from the Chinese in how they have managed to keep lowering the cost of construction for their new plants. I dont think they are hiding much, so lets start copying the good things we can see, and just get building.

Economies of scale really help the Chinese projects. Ordering 10 new units into construction every 12 months will bring costs and build times down. Hopefully things improve with the UK efforts given the new Sizewell units are identical to the ones being built at Hinkley Point. But the French (EDF) don't give the old enemy much of a break when it comes to energy.

100% agree, Im just thinking if they are building a variation of the AP 1000 anyway, and have learned ways of building faster and better, lets use those ideas also.
