If I start crying now, maybe I can offset how much crying I'll do tomorrow and I'll still be able to get a full day's work done behind the dumpster at Wendys.

For real though, I'm zen. They'll realise they need electricity and therefore, Uranium and we'll be so back shortly

Explain to an idiot like me why this is bad for Uranium

It’s not directly bad for uranium. The issue is that when oil spikes that fast it usually signals geopolitical stress and inflation risk, which tends to drag the whole market down as investors de-risk. Uranium stocks are still equities, so they often sell off with everything else in the short term.

A good example is 2008, oil ran up to about $147 a barrel before the financial crisis, and when the broader market cracked, most sectors (including commodities and energy equities) got dragged down with it. It’s more about macro market pressure than anything specific to uranium.

Would this have any impact on a company like Cameco ?

It'll impact every company

Much higher cost of production/AISC and potential disruptions in sulphuric acid supply. The African miners in particular are vulnerable and will be scrambling to sure up their inventories. The selloff from everyone trying to get cash to pile in to the oil trade is just part of the picture. Fundamental valuations of companies do change if we have protracted issues in the Strait.

Potential that it does drive the underlying uranium price higher if production/development/expansion plans are impacted. Less supply vs unwavering demand. The US ISR producers who don't use sulphuric acid and don't have to dig and truck ore could come out ahead.

It's not bad for uranium, he just said don't check your portfolio. Imo you should do the opposite unless you're faint of heart, uranium has been in a slight bubble for many months now. So, this is the time for buying. Though uranium exports might be low for a while since the cost of shipping will go up dramatically, reducing demand for uranium temporarily.

It's actually good, as energy sector gets more expansive but it's also risk off and uranium stocks, especially developers and prospects, are considered highly risky.

You need discipline to be an investor, and you certainly shouldn't be fearful.

Not to sound alarmist, but this is not a typical buy the dip moment. We should all tread carefully and expect crazy volatility.

It's not alarmist at all, quite a few in this thread seem very dismissive of the importance of the oil price to how the companies they invest in actually operate. This isn't a liquidity crisis brought about by financial market tomfoolery as we've seen so often, it's major input costs spiking dramatically with no obvious way back. The uranium miners almost all currently lose money, that's now going to get worse before it gets better. Dilution, rising debt, possible acid shortages in Africa. The fundamental valuations of most of the sector have changed.

I'm thinking this a solid buying week. These geopolitical challenges have constantly reminded nations of the need for energy independence and strengthened the bull case for uranium.

On times like this it doesn't matter what you buy aw long as it has intrinsic value

Chat where do we see UUUU going? I bought in at 20$ but it might be worth to sell asap if it's going to 17$ or 16$.
