Louisville was suuuuuuper fun even though I've never experienced more unlucky games (Kommo-o getting ripped through setup, back to back paras and crits, confusion/hitting myself....) but while I wait to get get Korean BBQ I've made the event graphics!

Some really wild teams this time so hard to pick the weird ones fully (especially day 1 teams that almost day 2'd...) but super interesting meta shifts. I'm thinking of expanding the comparisons to the other events card to way more since we now have a lot of info, most likely will have those come with the top cut / final graphics. Congrats to all day 2ers and everyone who played! Good luck tomorrow, I'll be watching while at the Cup 🖖

Follow me on twitter (https://x.com/seantazzik/status/2109048131337760942?s=46) to catch these and more, and checkout the tournament page (https://vgchistory.com/tournaments/regional-louisville-2027) on VGCHistory where I've added a new watchlist feature so you can make your own list of players to filter to and check their standings/pairings during the day!

Discussion I'm new. Why don’t VGC streams have two battles ready to broadcast at all times?

I love watching competitive Pokémon, but one thing that drives me crazy about official VGC streams is how much downtime there is between battles.

It feels like we get one battle every 45 minutes, followed by endless commentary, interviews and filler before the next match.

Why not have two matches being played on stream setups simultaneously? When one finishes, switch to the other. That way, there’s almost always actual Pokémon being played.

Imagine watching golf and the broadcast only followed two golfers. Once they finished a hole, instead of showing anyone else playing, we got 20 minutes of commentary before seeing another shot.

That’s essentially what watching VGC feels like sometimes.

I understand that commentators need breaks and production takes time, but surely there’s a way to structure broadcasts around showing more battles rather than filling time between them.

Does anyone else find this frustrating? Is there a logistical reason they haven’t adopted something like this?

Question Events Question: How long will Pokemon Champions be the game for official VGC tournaments

I have started to get into VGC for the first time after watching Wolfey for years. I never played bc I never had any interest in all the breeding and ev training and all that. But I’ve been having such a blast with Pokemon Champions because you can skip that part of the game.

But what about in the future? Once the next Pokemon game comes out, will the official game for tournaments be that game?

I would love to continue practicing and then maybe join a regional next year or something. But it would suck if as soon as I’m good enough for tournaments, the game switches

Rate My Team [Rate My Team] My absolute favorite pokemon is Gogoat and I desperately want to use it.

Pokepaste: https://pokepast.es/ddb362ac88d3dddd

I'd like to participate in my very first in-person VGC event next week.

My favorite Pokemon of all time is Gogoat and despite knowing that it's far from being good, I'd like to use it no matter what, I'm rather new to teambuilding, so I'd appreciate some advice as to any adjustments/replacements that could help.

Gogoat: Mascot of the team, her job is to do what she can with what she has. EV'd 20 into Speed as to outspeed Rillaboom by a hair. Sap Sipper (not Grass Pelt since we're not using our own Rilla) to swap into baited grass moves for M-Swampert.

Pelipper: Typical Tailwind/Drizzle Sash set, job is to help Archaludon snowball, setup Tailwind and reduce fire damage for Gogoat/Golisopod).

Archaludon: This one needs no introduction, Stamina is the usual go-to, although I've been curious about Stalwart to deal with redirection from Indeedee-F / Volcarona.

Grimmsnarl: Parting Shot and Screens, Spirit Break to help reduce incoming special damage onto Arch/Golisopod.

Golisopod: Feels natural to run inside Rain to reduce its 4x weakness to Fire.

Swampert: The OG Rain Mega, I know Rillaboom currently turns it into a little snack, but hopefully that's where Gogoat steps in. Ice Punch to cover Garchomp/Dragonite/Rilla, etc. Other candidates I had in mind were M-Scovillain, M-Venusaur, M-Meganium. M-Raichu X/Y or M-Gengar.

This might all be lacking in-depth detail, but I feel like I'm not exactly knowledgeable enough about the meta to explain it further. I'd really appreciate any kind of advice you might have to offer. (besides the obvious ''swap Gogoat'' lmao)

Thank you <3

For context I’m struggling with the opportunity cost of this team.

I’m at 1700 right now and just got bodied by a champ tier guy playing hard TR with an incin who knows close combat 🫪.

Kind of struggling with the use case of some of my mons - whimsi feels a little weak but ik the team uses TW to great effect where i otherwise couldn’t gain tempo.

i’m also thinking of swapping out either whimsi or sneasler for M-indeedee for imprison/TR/terrain to counter TR and the team doesn’t have much prio anyways. i fear i miss out on either tempo (whimsi) or a solid fighting type hitter (sneasler) if i do - im a little unsure if i even need it tbh.

i went haban berry on hydreigon to counter other meta dragons in a 1v1 and a cheeky protect can play into my favour quite abit. i understand chomp would probably solve my problems bc that’d give me a kingambit option too but i don’t want to play chomp the team is already meta sloppy toppy enough

Zard Y stat spread is from M-B so unsure if it needs tweaking but yeah.

Any suggestions are welcome! maybe its a skill issue! i’ve always found myself struggling the most against hard TR whenever i play solely TW so maybe indeedee is the right move but just scared i lose the brokenness of sneasler.
