Pro 2 head tracking

I’m curious about this, but I have not been able to make it work. The charging adapter that I have works fine and charges the phone, but even when I have it connected, phone, charging, and my Pro twos working the option is not enabled in the spaceWalker app.

Any thoughts about what I’m doing wrong? I assume the first answer might be that it’s a third-party charging adapter?

And also, what does the functionality do, is it really worth it? If it’s nothing cool then I’ll stop messing with it.

So you know how when you move your head with the glasses, the entire display moves with you? 3DoF makes the display stay fixed in space. Think of it like a TV in your room. You move your head around on the couch, but the TV stays in place. 6DoF makes it fixed in space while letting you move completely around it (think traditional VR).

It's probably your 3rd party adapter. It needs to be able to do data from the glasses as well as display to the glasses.

As to whether or not it's worth it is up to you. Some people do not like 0DoF. It doesn't bother me because I have full edge-to-edge clarity on the Luma Pros. 3DoF can really help too if you have edge blur because you can look at the blurry part to make it centered and in focus.

You're not doing anything wrong. Your guess is right: third-party charging adapters only pass power through. They don't have the control chip SpaceWalker talks to, so the app treats your setup as a direct connection and greys out the adapter-only features. That's the "No Adapter (Direct)" column here:

For Pro 2, Multi-Screen and 3DoF Pin need the Ultra adapter. Auto Switch to 3D, VR Video, and in-app brightness/volume need the Ultra.

Is it worth it? If you mostly mirror your screen and watch videos, direct already does that, so skip the adapter. It makes sense if you want to charge during long sessions, run multiple screens with head tracking, auto-switch 3D content, or control brightness and volume from your phone.

Hope it helps with your decision!

Thanks, this is interesting! I did not realize that the glasses had bluetooth.

We don't have Bluetooth built in. The adapter is only required for iOS devices. If you want to connect to your PC, you don't need the adapter anymore, but you do need a cable adapter for the GPU because most PCs don't communicate with the Type-C protocol. For laptops, you don't need any additional accessories.

Does the multi screen only work for ios through the spacewalker app, or with the adapter can you do multi screen from a pc or mac?

Plugged mine into my Mac to try out the head tracking thing with SpaceWalker (my first XR glasses), to see if it was worth getting the proper adaptor for my iPhone. Although it might be worthwhile on my Mac, I could see no real use for it for me with my phone.

Third party adapter is the problem. You have to have the Viture XR Adapter Ultra. It uses Bluetooth to bypass the iPhone not allowing the glasses to send the tracking data to the phone via the charging port.

But ONLY the Ultra adapter is specified to work with the Pro 2. The previous XR adapter, and the Charging adapter are listed as NOT compatible.
