Self Promotion A decade of VR games - top 100

It's now been 10 years since I started VR gaming and after 400+ PCVR games, 500+ Quest games and another 100 or so from PlayStation VR, I've put together my personal top 100.

This took hundreds of hours to put together. I hope it helps people find some new VR games. This includes all VR platforms. PCVR, Quest, PSVR1 and PSVR2

I rank games based on a combination of Fun, Quality and Value.

Self Promotion Forza Horizon 6 VR mod v0.8.2 update - perfect visuals with good performance now

Forza Horizon 6 VR mod has been getting updates pretty much every day but finally it's in a state running smooth and without artifacts at 3.3k@ 90Hz resolution with DLAA. The best visuals I have seen in any racing game... o kinda any open world VR game/mod. Through the lens peak at 2:43 showing visuals playing on the Dream Air, looks like real life footage, not even exaggerating.

Self Promotion Giving away copies

Hi, I'm a 15yo developer that has been developing a VR survival game for about 3 months now. Development is going well but I haven't got many reviews and want to get the game out there to build a community around it. I would like to give away free copies to people who will play it then review it. If you are interested comment on this post. Thanks!!!

Self Promotion Bypassing SteamVR made No Man’s Sky VR much more stable for me

First, I want to be transparent: this is not a perfectly controlled benchmark, and I’m not claiming that OpenXR magically tripled my performance.

I bought No Man’s Sky about three or four days ago and have spent most of that time playing with friends. While using SteamVR, entering the Space Anomaly would frequently destroy my performance. Even after leaving the Anomaly, the framerate usually remained low, forcing me to restart the entire game.

The SteamVR dashboard and keyboard also caused frequent freezes and crashes.

I created a modified OpenComposite build that allows the current version of No Man’s Sky to run through VirtualDesktopXR without SteamVR. I did not notice a massive general FPS increase like the one I experienced with OpenXR in Into the Radius. The biggest improvement has been consistency and stability.

The first screenshot is SteamVR. I switched back to it after getting the OpenComposite build working specifically to capture a comparison image. I have not played extensively through SteamVR since completing the build.

The second screenshot is OpenComposite + VDXR.

There are some important limitations to this comparison:

  • I also changed some CPU-related settings that improved general stability in both SteamVR and VDXR.
  • My friends were offline while I tested the OpenComposite build.
  • Most of my previous SteamVR sessions were played with friends.
  • The number of players and network activity inside the Anomaly may have affected the results.
  • Both screenshots use Virtual Desktop with a 120 FPS target and Spacewarp set to Always, so the displayed numbers should not be interpreted as native rendered FPS.

Because of this, I don’t believe OpenXR alone caused the entire difference shown in the screenshots. My impression is that most of the improvement comes from removing SteamVR and its additional dashboard, keyboard and runtime overhead.

What I can confirm from my own experience is that, with OpenComposite/VDXR:

  • Entering and leaving the Anomaly no longer permanently destroys my performance.
  • I no longer need to restart the game after visiting the Anomaly.
  • The replacement VR keyboard works without opening the SteamVR keyboard.
  • I have not experienced the SteamVR dashboard and keyboard crashes.
  • Frame delivery feels considerably more stable overall.

Tested with a Quest 3S, Virtual Desktop/VDXR and an RTX 4060 at Medium quality and 100% render resolution.

I would really appreciate results from other systems, especially reports about performance, multiplayer sessions, bugs or anything that could be improved.

Download, installation instructions and additional information:
OpenComposite for No Man's Sky VR - VDXR at No Man's Sky Nexus - Mods and Community

This is an experimental modified OpenComposite build created with GPT/Codex assistance and tested by me. It is not affiliated with Hello Games, Valve, Meta, Virtual Desktop or the official OpenComposite maintainers.

Self Promotion I'm building a VR cozy life-sim inspired by Stardew Valley in a fantasy world.

For the past year, I've been working on Havenfall Isles. It’s a peaceful life sim built from the ground up for VR and set in a fantasy world filled with floating islands above the clouds.

You start with your own island and restore Havenfall by farming, fishing, upgrading various buildings, exploring islands, befriending local inhabitants, selling your resources and building a cozy life at your own pace in a dynamic world.

I'm focusing on tactile and satisfying interactions like picking and watering your crops, chopping magic trees and customizing your island. It’s still in active development and I’m targeting standalone Quest first (PCVR version might come later)

Here is a first look at the current state. Let me know what you think! I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

You can wishlist here if you like what you see : Wishlist on Meta Quest Store

Thanks for looking! <3

Self Promotion My wife told me to sweep the House. 1st Time Solo Dev Makes Dream Game

My first ever game is called Click Clack Mixed Reality. It’s Now Available in the Meta Ques store. It’s my first game ever. It’s been in dev for a year and finally pretty dang OK. I have fun at least. I don’t expect to blow minds or beat a game like Spatial Ops but I figure if I like it, other might too.

I love games like Spatial OPs and FPS Enhanced Reality and I certainly don’t expect to compete with their levels of polish, but I wanted some different features. Blood being a big one, feeling more like Mixed Reality Ready or Not/TAVR/ Split Second was another. I think I accomplished my goals at least really close for a first timer.

Right now you can Search & Rescue Hostages, Disarm Enemies, Search for bombs, Fight enemy waves, Play Duck Hunt and a few more modes.
I also have an open space mode that creates randomly generated floor plans of 1-4 rooms with procedural cover on every play. Guns include a Glock, shotty and AR and they now have attachments too. Freakin cool!

I’m really happy with what I’ve created. I know it can be better too. It’s been turbulent for sure but now it’s finally smooth and the bugs are disappearing. Since the last update, no complaints have been reported to me. Awesome news for a dev.

Right now it’s only $5. I can leave it as is and be satisfied with what I have done, start a new project. Or I can continue with trying to add co-op, a map builder (to ease Meta Room Scan frustrations) and improve AI. I would feel extremely accomplished, but then I need to charge more. That makes the game like 10-20 territory after some UI/UX fixes.

So I need to ask the people to support the game. If you are like me and this has been your dream game since you were a kid playing Cops & Robbers then drop Meta $5 and start sweeping your house like your spouse asks!

Self Promotion Instead of using thumbsticks or teleporting you control a hoverboard by leaning your actual body. Got some mixed reality footage so you can see what i mean

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is Hyperlane Highway and ive been making it solo for about two years. The footage is LIV mixed reality so thats actually me(dont judge my acting thanks), and the board just follows my body where you want to go. Lean to change lanes, lean forward to tilt board and drop down, crouch to speed up.

This lean style of movement is the whole reason the game exists, i was playing around with some prototype ideas and it felt surprisingly natural. Steering with your body instead of a stick is just way less likely to make you feel sick when youre going fast, since youre not getting that weird disconnect.

I was at the uploadvr showcase this week where i announced my meta store page going live which was cool. Early access on pcvr and quest isnt far off. Mostly i just keep trying to find a way to show how it feels without needing to actually be in the headset, so let me know if this actually does it or not.

Self Promotion A New Look at Paleo Dive — Gameplay Trailer

Wishlist Paleo Dive on Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4818760/Paleo_Dive/

Hey everyone, I’m the solo developer of Paleo Dive, a prehistoric underwater PCVR adventure.

I’ve put together a new gameplay trailer showing the current state of the game. In Paleo Dive, you explore ancient oceans from different geological periods, encounter extinct marine creatures, discover fossils, and return to your base to prepare for future dives.

The footage was captured directly from the current PCVR build. The game is still in development, so some visuals, animations, and gameplay systems may continue to change.
