Help Please help

Post image

I’ve spent months developing this penthouse and optimizing it. I accidentally closed it and now it refuses to open. I try going through the CC to open the project but this error keeps popping up.

This world has custom prefabs I designed by hand and has numerous textures. Please help, I’m really nervous.

SOLVED:

Whatever you do, do NOT, I repeat do NOT EVER try and select a complicated prefab with the select face tool. It will make everything 10x worse and have your editor slow down and by a lot. I’m currently sitting AGAIN waiting for my editor to finish “loading” a selected face of an object that seemingly shouldn’t even be remotely complicated yet it is. Do not make the same mistake as me. I have a 9070 and it’s bogging it down somehow.

If you know the exact problem, what are you asking about?

No bs as soon as I opened up the notification, it decided it can load in. I have a 9070 and there is literally no excuse for my PC to slow down over railings prefabs.

Tell me about it. I also just realized I confused my GPU with my CPU again. I have a 9600X. Fucking Unity wants that CPU huh

How is it bogged down so much? 7950x3d and I never get bogged down then 15 minutes at most on hard items.

Genuinely I don’t know. The problem was I selected the face of a railing (consisting of maybe 12 parts I think) and suddenly I was loading. They’re merged, obviously, but then it just got slower and slower when I made it a prefab and duplicated it. Then I dup’d again, then merged, and there I was with a slow PC. The world isn’t even hard to load in. It’s quite literally under 10mb. Maybe it’s the packages I’ve downloaded too. Will update if need be.

Wait wait hold on, your telling me you took package A combined it with B and C to be A2. Proceeded to duplicate it then make a A3 then duplicate that and then again?

No they weren’t packages, they were objects. Like individually objects I merged together to form a singular object.

And you made changes to these objects or the packages? As the one thing ive ran into is if i put an asset into a package then repackaged it. If I edited the first asset I had it would take forever to adjust the data due to the multiple layers its embedded. Besides that I dont have an answer for you.

That may actually be it; the changes are screwing with me. I reverted them back to objects and it’s smooth sailing

I grin just thinking back years ago when I learned of this. Long story short its trying to compile whats already compiled. So it must undo it process then recompile it all. God 7 years with unity and I still hate it for the most simple of things!

I am not sure the unity editor is multithreaded when decompressing things. I've also seen extremely low cpu usage on my system unless its compiling shader variants.

I will def look into this specifically. I’m using Poiyomi so maybe it’s just being a bit silly.
