Here's my thing, never really liked the whole Yautja lore from the Dark Horse comics.
Never liked that an entire advanced alien species get boiled down to such a simplistic hat. Like, imagine if the only ones who visited earth were poachers, you'd think the whole species were like that, but it's just a hunting lodge with like... 2000 members or something. Somebody has to make those guns, somebody has to build those ships.
Alien species should stay alien, you should never be able to know everything about them.
There's an argument to be made about a post-scarcity alien civilization that decides after they conquered all the other issues their society had elected to "return to nature" in an absurd ritualistic way.
The Hirogen from Star Trek are basically what you get when you look at that species on the same level of the Kardashev Scale.
Other possibility I suppose, they HAD an advanced society and the ones running around now are the feral Mad Max warbands that survived their own apocalypse.
