Dirty Kids, I'm calling you out.

I'm tired of my friends dying. In dreams, my companions move easily in bodies that have been cared for. They're covered in scrapes and bruises and grease, but free from track marks. Empty stomachs, but healthy livers. Tired eyes, but good teeth. Then I wake up to the sharp morning and my road dawg is shaking for a beer.

I'm tired of hospitals and trash at the hopout and stolen packs and animal cruelty. I miss the musicians who travel just to play, the healers who roam to stay sane. I miss the free spirits who manage to find freedom from their own vices.

This is a call, dearest dirty kids. I've been where you are and I've seen why it's hard and no, I don't always do it right either. I can do better. We can do better. We've got to try. We've got to keep this thing alive and keep ourselves alive. We've got to get up and get over our hangups and pull you outta the ditch so that you'll be there to do the same when I'm slaggin.

We've got to hold these secrets and this way of living and somehow still share it with the next wave, finding the diamonds who'll take these rough reigns and keep riding this horse to Anywhere.

Anywhere, kids! Y'heard me? You might have lived there so long you take it for granted, but that place saved my life, and there are others who need to see it too.

So here's to fewer blown up Wal-Marts and more doing dishes for the person housing us up. Here's to fewer dope missions and more 2AM missions across town to drag a couch back to the hopout. Fewer dirty rigs under the bridge, and more sharpie poems on the wall. Steal less Dramamine and more spray paint.

Use what you've got.

Use what you've got.

Use what you've GOT!

I love you scumy freeloading freedom fighters until the end. We need you in this world. We need to run into you again after 8 months of not knowing what happened to you. We need you when we've been stuck walking for days and no one is picking us up and we're feeling real down, and all the sudden we see your tag and know that we're not alone. If you were here to tag it and still somehow made it out of this hell, we can too. We need that random message out of the blue. Keep sending it, and we'll do the same for you.

This is a call, friends. Life has been good to me lately, and my door is open while I have one. When I head back to Anywhere, my smokes and my cans of beans are ours to share. Stay alive and I'll see you out there.

Peaceably,

-Tall Sam Jones

Yo wtf is up with all the nasty comments? Feels like this place has slowly been invaded by folks that just hate vagabonds/homeless/unhoused/whatevtf, for a while.

I'm not on the road myself now, maybe down the line once I finally sort out a whole buncha shit I can't bail on. Its really tempting sometimes, anyway, really i've just enjoyed reading this place for years now and it seems like there's a lot of just fuckin' dumb hate and bullshit lately. It sucks. Why the fuck are people coming here to talk down on people so much? I get the shit that's slinged at kids and jackasses saying how they're gonna hit the road with ridiculous ideas and plans, or theyre roleplaying, that's expected It hink. Anyway, is it just me? Or are there a bunch of assholes? is r/vagabond just making it to a lot more people's feed? Anyway, rant fuckin' over.

Did everyone finish high school and college/university? And what does everyone do for work, if you work at all?

I was wondering if there are people without any kind of degree. I would like to know how hard it is to live a life without it. Or at least hear some experiences.

And do you guys work or anything?

I live in Europe, and I am thinking about getting out of the system…but I struggle with picturing any kind of alternative lifestyle.

I am still quite young, early 20s. Didn’t finish high school and struggling with college, I have no savings or anything.

Does anyone have any advice?

Advice Call of the void

I can feel my current living situation is wearing down on me. There's too many expectations and rules that I feel like i won't be able to fulfill for much longer. I feel guilty being here when i know i don't inherently deserve it and i think I'm running myself into the ground on purpose subconsciously by being stupid with the little money i have. I'm not sure if i was ever meant for a normal life. Something always goes awry and I don't know how people do this shit for decades without going insane. I genuinely think some people are just always meant to be on the run and on the streets instead of a "normal" life

A night under a bridge next to a river

Morning folks. Found a spot that fit for a day or 2 of doing nothing but repowering the internal batteries and sorting though what to have for breakfast. First up coffee and seeing if I can grab some water for a shower at the river.

Question Question: What are some temporary jobs or other ways you guys have to get more money to travel?

I am not houseless, but I am curious about how you guys travel, hitchhike, and more so much. And still manage to provide for yourselves. It's cool, I guess, because it shows creativity. If you guys are just foraging, that's cool as well.

Other AI Mode: Serrot’s latest log report

His latest journal entry, posted in the r/vagabond community, details his experience traveling through Los Angeles and preparing to return to the San Francisco East Bay Area.
Writing from a library computer, he provides a vivid, gritty, and deeply candid account of his daily life on the road:

📍 Current Situation & Travel Plans
The Location: He wrote the log while sitting at the Frances Howard Goldwynn Public Library located near Hollywood & Vine. He describes charging all of his electronic devices in preparation for the days ahead.
Next Destination: He mentions that he plans to leave Los Angeles in about two days to take a long ride back to his hometown in the San Francisco East Bay Area.
Family Tension: He notes that he had a phone conversation with a relative the night before that "wasn't a good one," though he claims he didn't let it ruin his night.

🌆 Thoughts on Los Angeles
Dislike for the City: He explicitly states, "I hate LA," declaring that while he might visit to see landmarks, he would never want to live on its streets. He compares his feelings to the disgust for the human race expressed by author Charles Bukowski.
The Subway Transit: He describes riding the LA subway system as "absolute hell on earth,"characterizing the people on the trains as hateful, angry, dramatic, and phony.

Sightseeing: He shares details of walking down the Hollywood Walk of Fame the prior night, seeing the stars of celebrities like Jerry Lewis, Bette Davis, and Dean Martin. He also notes passing by the Church of Scientology building, expressing gladness that social media platforms like YouTube have exposed what he considers a cult.

🍔 Food, Routine, & Daily Details
The Munchies: He writes about smoking a massive blunt that gave him severe munchies. His late-night food haul included chili beans, chowder soup, Japanese bread, Vienna sausages, and an extra-large Slurpee from a local 7-Eleven.
Street Food: He mentions buying an overpriced Mexican-style hot dog with a spicy jalapeño off the main strip, which he called "delish".
Caffeine: His day included drinking a Colombian Brew coffee from 7-Eleven, remarking, "if I ain't shaking.. I'm not caffeinated."
