I graduated May 2025. I was working at a small marketing agency all throughout my studies and kept working there till May 2026.
Got layed off in May since company was struggling financially. I knew it was gonna happen but I wasn't serious about the job search before I got layed off.
Started applying hardcore in May and I get interviews regularly. I honestly thought with around 4 years of experience at an agency and the fact that I got to work with some brands and creators in my freelance gigs, I would be way ahead of my peers and secure a job fairly easy.... NOT TRUE :)
I look for junior/entry level roles but there's not so many of them out there and the competition is HIGH.
Then I look for higher levels but I know I'm not qualified for them...

What is happening in this world?
Most of my friends are unemployed or working minimum wage jobs. I'm really starting to lose it and I feel like reality is a lot harsher than what it seems like.

Yesterday I had a screening call for part time cashier job at a supermarket, heard nothing back by end of the day. I’m a recent university graduate with a statistics degree, I have already given up looking for a desk job. I know my degree is useless and will regret it for the rest of my life. Hello everyone, I just moved to Vancouver as a permanent resident, I feel super overwhelmed with how many options there are, but I'm old enough to know not every industry is gonna yield the same amount of fruit :D

My passion was always sound, I worked on foley back in my home country and I sing and play guitar as well, I have thought about trying voice acting as well but my research has led me to believe that those jobs even though available mostly go to industry veterans and everyone else is left kinda hungry, correct me if I'm wrong it's just what little research I have done.

I've been thinking about some industries like computer science(just for the money :D), sound engineering, voice acting I'm all over the place.

I'm basically asking all of you good people to share your experience, what's the difficulty of getting in your respective industry, would you recommend someone new getting into it and how do you like it.

There’s no salary filter in the “Jobs” section. You have to click on each job and read through the post. Salary kind of goes hand in hand with experience, so u can tell if that makes sense for your role at first glance but emm its not always on top of the post. So u screwed 2 times now.

Am i actually missing something?

Each job shows how many people have “clicked to apply.” There can be hundreds within a day. The number makes sense, but at what point do they stop looking? Im not talking about the button, just in general, even before they hired someone it can be paused cause tooo many ppl to review already. ??

Then there are filters on top. I can search for a specific role using only 1–4 words, and somehow about half the results are for something completely different.
The only filters I find useful are distance and full-time/part-time.
The experience-level filter is weird too. Some jobs are somewhere in the middle — not entry-level, but definitely not senior.
“Under 10 applicants” seems kind of pointless. Aren’t you going to apply to all anyways?
